Terrible offense, pathetic defense (worse than sunseris), and mediocre special teams (probably would have been terrible without Daniel punting). That was not the worst team in Tennessee history. They did have the worst record though.
Because McBride is trash? 42.5% passing against two horrible defenses. Shrout has upside but I doubt he will be ready next year.
The judgement of JG here is ridiculous. It was his first year playing and it was for the worst team in Tennessee history under what I consider the worst coaching staff Tennessee has ever had on offense. He didnt look at for a freshman. All of his mistakes were things that will improve with experience
To a degree but he played against worse competition and had a 15% difference in completing passes. Cant judge either too harshly, but with that being said theres a clear difference between the two. Plus hes smallWait, how can you judge McBride? I thought you wanted to throw everything out from last year due to poor coaching?
Cant all the same things you said be the same for McBride?
Hes shorter, has a worse arm, and isnt as accurate. JG>>>>>>McBride
Name them
Last year kind of matters. You can make some assessments. Both played and JG played much better.Im not trying to argue for McBride here by the way.
Just points out you are willing to give JG a pass in certain areas because you like him and not McBride. Either last year matters or it doesnt.
If JG played for Florida we would be making fun of how bad their QB situation was
Well last year they were the worst team in modern UT history.

And Florida basically has the same situation as us. Franks is similar to JG in that theyre both talented but havent put it together yet. Difference is Franks made a lot more mistakes and got to play under a more competent coach (not much more competent but McElwain could at least get to ATL lol).
You really wanna depend on a really talented guy like Stidham being out there as a grad transfer? If we are depending on Shrout at that point, 5-7 is way more likely than 7-5. That is the basis of his argument, and it's not straw.>>It would be a disaster to go 8-4 and then get worse the next year because of incompetent QB play. <<
The entire basis of your argument is that this would happen. Auburn went from 3-9 one year to 12-2 the next with the addition of a transfer QB. It is far from a given that we would step back, and even with a QB change, the rest of the team should be playing at a higher level.
>>Would kill recruiting<<
No guarantee that the first part happens, but if so, going 7-5 wouldn't necessarily kill recruiting. It wouldn't be super helpful, but even kids understand rebuilding seasons happen.
>>and now with the new transfer rule you would probably see several kids leave.<<
Because they dropped back under a new QB? Again, no basis.
So you started with a straw man and built on it.
Hoss if you think McBride or shrout is going to lead us to a 7-5 season you are sadly mistaken. We wouldnt get to a bowl game. McBride isnt very talented and shrout seems really turnover prone.>>It would be a disaster to go 8-4 and then get worse the next year because of incompetent QB play. <<

Thats all we need. As you posted earlier, Helton isnt going to ask them to do much. Let JG play, gain confidence, and develop. In my eyes theres zero upside to chryst playingWhich is the reason I feel the way I do about JG.
No throw or game popped off the page to make me say, wow, this kid could be really good
I think he can be adequate in the SEC
