I am not sure that means Dooley wasn't as embarrassing. Losing to U.K. was quite embarrassing. Didn't have a winning record in 3 straight years. Again, in year 4 under Butch, I was at the point where we could win almost any game we played. Never under Dooley.

4-8. The Ky loss was pathetic but it was on the road and the team obviously wasn’t even trying. Not scoring a point against UGA at home in year 5 of butch’s “program” was far more pathetic

If you read the reports, listen to beat writers, and watch the way the cowboys operate. You will see I’m not far off in what I’m saying. Like you said earlier in your post, you liked doolz better and thought he was funnier than jones. That’s all I needed to know when you say doolz is a better coach, even though every statistic points in butch’s favor.

Just cherry picking. Have to consider the whole tenure.

I think the 41-0 loss to Georgia this past year was the most pathetic Tennessee showing of my lifetime. Butch Jones was to blame and I'm glad that life champ is in Tuscaloose. I do wonder if he's shared any of Barb's chip dip with Saban. I could see Saban pulling a sea bass and hawking it back up on Butch's plate after he took a sampling.

Ah it really don't matter but I'll reiterate again. I think Dooley is a better pure X's and O's coach than Jones. Doesn't necessarily mean he's a better overall coach.

Dooley's failures were his recruiting and overall management of the program. We had the talent level of Kentucky during his tenure.

I agree, but I think that uk game doolz lost years back rivals that uga game. Cobb literally ran the same dive play every play for the entire game.

Same here. The first play of the game is one of the dumbest play calls I’ve ever seen mixed with the worst technique I’ve ever seen. #7 Georgia Highlights Vs. Tennessee 2017 | CFB Week 5 | College Football Highlights 2017 - YouTube

The play is a 5 yard out route to the far side of the field with no roll out against man coverage. At BEST it’s a 5 yard play. On top of that, dormady stares at the receiver and takes forever to throw it. Utter incompetence. KY game sucked but bray wasn’t trying. We tried in this UGA game and were embarrassed in front of a sellout crowd. Just pathetic

Butch did a solid job of rebuilding our program. He took us as high as he could. We just weren't able to get rid of him before his cliches fell on deaf ears, lack of discipline and poor development started the decline. One year too many

If we had had an AD with any cohones, Butch would have been gone after we totally underachieved in 2016 and all the assistants saw the writing on the wall and bolted.

In the Dooley era I honestly wondered whether we could ever be elite again. The Butch era had moments that gave me hope - along with other moments that were completely baffling. Then the 8 losses and the coaching search last fall took me back to a low place I hadn’t been since the Dooley. I’ve somewhat returned from the ledge. I’m just ready to move on.

I remember looking at my buddy and saying, “if we can spot tendencies, imagine what Kirby Smart is seeing. I bet he knew where the ball was going before Dormady did simply based on the down, distance, and formation.”
