There's more to life than money. It helps, no doubt, but to try your best at the thing you want to devote your life to and fail...I'm not sure any amount of money can take away that hurt.

I wish neither man any ill will but the large majority that fail don't get that luxury.
If I'm going to be concerned, it'll be for one of the less fortunate. All I was saying.

Butch is responsible for 4 of Tennessee’s 6 loses. We got our a$$es handed to us so often with that reject because players would just quit. Without Josh Dobbs he would have been fired in 2015. The guy won 1 game without Dobbs! Dools was lame but we didn’t get embarrassed as much with him and I could at least watch his press conferences. Butch’s press conferences turned us into the #1 meme in college football

This is one thing I think a lot of people miss. If he doesn't have Dobbs, his ass would have been grass after the 15 season.

Embarrassed as much? Short memories.

In his second year, we ended the year losing to LSU by 31, 29 to Bama, 11 to USC (scored 3), 42 to Arkansas (had to see it in person), and a U.K. team that played a WR at QB. We did somehow beat MTSU and Vandy (2-6 in SEC). I went into almost every game knowing that we had no shot of winning.

You don't think Saban choosing to hire a guy says anything about said coach? Saban doesn't hire bums. Especially not two different times. The only bum he would hire would be for an intern that knocks down 35k a year. The Dez Bryant being the coach stuff is an opinion on your part. Ask anyone who knows anything about the league, and they'd tell you it's extremely difficult to coach diva wideouts like Bryant. Some of Dooley's receivers declined in production, not all. If you keep a job in the NFL for 5 years you have to be bringing at least a little something to the table.

You contradicted yourself in the first 4 sentences. Either he hires bums or don’t. Gotta choose 1. Dooley and garrett are puppets of jerry jones. They bring nothing to the table other than obeying to their “master” jones. If jones was a good or great owner, dooley would have never been in the nfl in the first place (no other team offered him a position). Everyone knows that most coaches in the nfl are a part of a revolving door. You get fired, you are hired the next day with someone else. He (dooley) hasn’t won anything significant as a coach. Give me evidence that proves me wrong, taking personal shots at butch doesn’t support your argument b/c he is MORE accomplished than doolz.

That following offseason was the most tense this board has ever been.

You are spouting things that had nothing to do with their coaching records. We all know you hate Butch Jones, but he twice won 9 games. Dooley didn't come close. You must be too young to remember his 3 years. Neither is a high level coach, but the data is quite clear who was better at UT and frankly, better before he came here.

Believe me I remember the Dooley years. It's the tallest midget argument in my mind. They both absolutely sucked as head football coach at Tennessee. Sucked. But I do think from an X's and O's/football IQ standpoint, Dooley was better. I'm also not saying that Dooley was a better head coach here than Jones was.

But he did have dobbs. What if saban stayed in the nfl, what if ut hired gruden.... stop getting off topic. Lets talk about what actually happened.

So, I am not sure what you are arguing then. Butch was better at UT. There was a year and a half under Butch where it was fun to watch games. Not under Dooley.

Time to move on.

As much as butch got on my nerves here with in-game adjustments. He didn’t suck here. His last season sucked and ended poorly, but his tenure didn’t suck. Dooley and kiffins tenures sucked.

A lot of that is an opinion there dude lol. Saban did Jimmy Sexton a solid by hiring is client, Butch Jones, get this, as an intern. Saban wouldn't have touched him with a ten foot pole had it not been for Sexton. How would Doofus be a puppet for Jerry Jones? Maybe Garret, but not Dooley. You think Jerry Jones is down there on the practice field telling Dooley how to coach the receivers? Come on. You know from a career standpoint Dooley pretty much just moved up, right? Going from a receiver coach in the NFL to OC in the SEC is a move up. I think this is getting missed in my argument here though, I said I thought Dooley was a better X's and O's/Football IQ coach than Jones. Didn't say he was a better head coach.

Butch's problem was his offense sucked, without a very mobile QB. Worely could not run it. JG and Dormady were not able to run it. The O-line was horrible through most of his tenure.

Wake up Mock!

Swiggity swooty I’m coming for that booty

That’s not an opinion. That’s a stat I saw during this past season. He was head coach for 4 of our 6 worst loses

Butch Jones sucked. Period. In his best season here he crapped his pants against OU and UF in epic fashion. He was a failure as the head football coach at Tennessee. His first and last seasons were terrible, and the 2016 season will go down as one of the most disappointing Tennessee football teams in our history. Also, Kiffin's tenure didn't suck to me. It was a lot of fun even though we only went 7-6. I still think Kiffin would have had success here.

2014 season sucked too until Dobbs saved it

YEA jones was down there (figuratively speaking) coaching the wide receivers and everyone else. He had to baby dez bryant. Garrett reports to jones and jones tells him what to change and how to change it because jones wants all the credit when they win the super bowl. If garrett is jones’s puppet, and doolz is garett’s puppet, wouldn’t that make doolz jones’s puppet? I think so. Jerry is very hands on and is making every decision, while garrett is saying yes mr. jones. X’s and 0’s is only 1 of many criteria of the overall responsibility of a coach (head, assistant, oc, dc, etc). But its all good, ut football is in a better spot now then we were when doolz got canned. So here’s to hoping fulmer and cjp can get us back to the late 90’s and early 2000’s 🍻

P.S. urban and osu still suck bucknuts

I can consider a bowless year as sucking. I consider 9-4 ok but not good enough.

You're trying too hard man. Like I don't even know where you're at right now with this. And I don't think you do either. I think Dooley is better from an X's and O's standpoint than Jones. I know we can agree on this though, Pruitt will almost assuredly be head and shoulders above those two bozos. To you last comment, Urban Meyer and Ohio State will be in national title contention this year IMO.
