Anyone have any experience in Bush, Alaska? More specifically, near Bethel.

I got offered a job there that will be difficult to accept OR turn down. I love the outdoors, fishing, etc., but I'm not used to that level of cold. I do enjoy the idea of mental, physical, and spiritual rejuvenation, as well as putting a considerable chunk of change in the bank.

Of course I would still be able to get down for a VOLS game or two in Neyland next season.

Been there. Loved the fishing. Hated the weather, in August. Very rainy and constantly damp. Really damp. Like grew webbing between my toes damp. Roads are almost always muddy and slick with just enough potholes to break your teeth and an axle.

The fishing was great!

Unless the laws have recently changed, there is absolutely NO ALCOHOL for sale. No beer. No wine. No spirits. Nothing.

But the fishing is great!

But how is the fishing?

Ok VN brethren I could use some diet/workout advice:

I’m looking to drop 35-40 lbs. This time last year I was down to 199 but I’ve added about 35 pounds of bad weight since. I’m 6’3”, 27, and fairly athletic. Just poor diet has led to this. I enjoy working out but hate cardio (I’ll do it if necessary). Don’t have to drop it fast but want to keep it off. I’ve gained and lost weight in a vicious cycle the past few years. I just mostly have a poor diet and not much self discipline. I’ve heard of things like keto and other diets. Anyone had good success with anything?

And go...

Go keto. Google ketogenic diet. You wont regret it.. Im down 20 pounds since January. Wife is down 30 pounds. We have 1 cheat day a week or we would be down more. It has been easy to maintain what we have lost

Same boat as far as hating cardio. I needed to drop about 20 so I cut out sodas, sweet tea, fried foods and tried to do more smoothies, grilled chicken, eggs, etc.

I also started to go play basketball and some beach volleyball to get some cardio in while tricking myself into thinking I wasn’t. Also go to the gym about 3-4 days a week for weights.

Dropped about 20lbs in 6 weeks. I’m a super picky eater so just cutting out eating absolutely awful and getting some cardio in really helped for me. Didn’t go on any crazy diets or run 5 miles daily. Different things work for everyone’s bodies but you’ll find something that will work for you. This just works for me.

9. Mine sit 2-3 inches above knee.

Started getting an above the knee cut with my squats in mind and it changed my life. Looking back, I’ve got no idea why basketball players have long baggy crotched shorts. It’s awful for actual performance

Still building up my nerve for a quad cut short

You literally described me. I have the same story. I’m not as tall as you and a little older, but this is the same story as me
