'18 TN DT Brant Lawless

The bad thing in this scenario is he will probably get flagged even if he passes the retake.

You're probably right, but I think they only get flagged when their is a "Derick Rose" type score improvement. If he is close to a qualifying score, and barely improves to a qualifying score, I doubt there is much to be flagged.

As soon as I saw his thread pop up I got nervous.. damn. Hope he can get it worked out.

Strange. I don't remember ever hearing a peep about grades being a potential issue. Generally word gets out long before this point if that's the issue.

Is it possible that the staff isn't as sold on him? Maybe a numbers issue after all of the grad transfers? Lawless looked like he put on a lot of bad weight when he visited in the winter. Pure speculation, btw.

I can’t see the staff letting him sign, it get this far down the road, and then just not letting him enroll because they decided they aren’t sold on him. Once they sign the LOI, isn’t the school obligated to the kid at that point?

Has to be academic as others have said, right? Hope he gets it straightened out.

Yeah he already signed so if they turned him away they still lose the spot. So it's definitely not that. Has to be some grade or test score they didn't see coming.

No inside knowledge or anything but it has to be grades, if the kid is not injured and with our need for for Dline help, what else could it be.

Are we Certain he signed an NLi?

Pretty sure the coaches talked about him at the NSD event so yeah. Otherwise it would not have been allowed. Also, it was reported he did. And 247 and rivals both say he's signed. And even UT's official site listed him as signed which would also be a violation if not true. This isn't a case of the coaches turning him away so people need to quit trying to start that rumor.

Turning him away would gain nothing for the coaches as he would count against the class either way.

We have had players listed before, been talked about and not sign the NLi

They only have to have paid a room deposit and been admitted to school iirc

Coaches cannot discuss the player publicly and school cannot list them until the NLI has been accepted. Stop trying to turn this into a narrative that you liked to bring up every time butch cut a recruit loose late. This does not appear to be the case according to what is known. As for yer second part, obviously he hasn't been admitted to the school which is the problem. So that isn't applied here.

That's just not true

I am not trying to argue about anything just trying to clarify.

He could have been admitted to school but have an NCAA issue especially if it's core gpa
