Josh Dobbs (merged)

You don't see the vascularity in that right arm?

That's a shredded look a body builder would be proud of. And Dobbs is at a rested position. Plus he probably didn't just lift.

I'm not into lifting and dieting like I was back in the day, but I do remember how hard it was to get to the level of vascularity Dobbs has going for him right now. First of all, I only got close to that level after a lift and when I was flexing. So the fact Dobbs probably didn't just lift and is in a rested position makes it all the more impressive.

I'm pretty confident that Dobbs will be the most athletic QB in the NFL (outside of Lamar Jackson) next season. Physically he looks in ELITE shape. I can tell he's been working hard in the weight room this off-season in term of adding lean muscle mass.

There isn't another QB in the NFL in as good a shape as Josh Dobbs right now.

I'm pretty sure TD's point was that looking at somebody's arm vascularity and extrapolating that into wild predictions for success is patently absurd. Let's say Dobbs really is in great shape. Hey, that's good. (No really, it is) Having said that great arm vascularity and great QB play are two things that have almost nothing in common. A stroll through the NFL's all time passing leaders list isn't exactly a who's who of guys that could pass for body builders.

You're just making statements that 1.) You can't verify or backup in any way .. 2.) Are ignorant of, the fact you see one arm and think the "veins popping" means he's shredded is laughable and anyone that has studied fitness would school you badly a out it .. and 3.) There's really nothing other than a few veins to point to to say he's in shape which means, he is probably in very good shape but no where near some elite "shredded" athlete.

At any rate, sticking with my statement from earlier .. Dobbs doesn't take a snap this year in the regular season .. FOR ANY TEAM

You might need to zoom into that picture. That's vascularity at a rested position that even a body builder would be proud of.

I won't say I was a body builder at one point but I did take lifting and dieting seriously in the past in hopes of getting a shredded look. So I can tell you that Dobbs vascularity is impressive.

The only time I ever got close to Dobbs level of vascularity was after using Nitric Oxide supplements and coming out of the gym after a lengthy workout. And even then I would have had to flex. Having that level of vascularity at a rested position lets me know Dobbs is shredded this year.

This is relevant to his passing how?

Fair enough.

I just live by the moniker if you look good, you play good.

And the fact Dobbs looks good right now in terms of his physique gives me confidence he'll play at a high level this season.

This isn't even a Dobb's related question per se but have you ever heard of the maxim "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?"? Now all else being equal sure, what's the downside of being in the best shape you can be, right? The point is that being jacked is not remotely a guarantee of success and frankly, when discussing NFL QB's, is practically irrelevant.

Dobbs was plenty athletic even when here. His NFL success isn't going to be won in the weight room.

If you look good, you play good.

I'm a strong believer that how you look affects your level of play in sports.

Tell that to many of the fat pitchers. Takes a lot more than looking good to succeed. I do believe in that principle when it comes to life.

By your logic, this guy should be a shoo-in for the football HoF.

Nah. You can work as hard as you want in the weight room and not get that shredded. Part of it is genetics. Dobbs is just blessed with great genes which allow him to have such a ripped physique.

There probably isn't another QB in the NFL right now that has forearms with veins popping out like that.

Dobbs is in for an incredible season athletically. He looks in ELITE shape.

 He’s got old lady vein problems. Like Madonna.

Quick, someone show the Steelers this pic! Obviously they haven't seen it yet, because if they see that arm they'll make him starter!

/sarcasm

Just so we're clear ..

Once muscle mass is improved and body fat is reduced, water in the skin should be minimized. This is so that the skin 'thins' and allows the blood vessels to become more visible. ... This dehydration causes the skin to dry, improving muscle definition and vascularity.

So Dobbs is just dehydrated more than "shredded"

He's probably on steroids. In addition, he's in a gym and just got some intense lifting in. Plus he's flexing.

Dobbs was on a football field. Probably finished throwing. And his arm was in a rested position. That level of vascularity is a better indicator of his true physical shape than this clown.

Plus we already know Dobbs has football ability. My point is when a guy who has talent to play the game also transforms his body to become in tip-top shape, it typically leads to great results.

Dobbs will be the starter this year whether they like it or not. And he will lead them to the Super Bowl.

It's already happened. We're just waiting to get there.

All you did was state what body builders do to get that unnatural look BeardedVol posted in the picture above before competitions. Sure extreme vascularity is unnatural and only used by body builders in the lead to competitions.

Dobbs is obviously not getting ready for a body building competition. His shredded look is probably more natural. He has obviously added muscle mass this off-season and he must have very low body-fat naturally. That is how you get natural vascularity like he does. Once again, it goes to what I said initially.

Josh Dobbs is in PHENOMENAL SHAPE right now. I can't wait to see how he looks this pre-season. I'm guessing he'll be a lot more athletic than he was at Tennessee.

But? He was the perfect QB prototype at Tennessee. We got this guy who can spot a talent in 10 seconds...:wink2: Course the same guy flipped on him once and said he sucked azz.

No. I never said he was perfect. I just said he was extremely talented and had the intangibles to continue to improve.

We are right now seeing that rapid improvement I talked about.

I feel like I ought to contact security at the Steelers' facility. We're on the verge of a nutbag showing up with a gun, demanding that they start Josh Dobbs.

I'm only kinda joking.

When I said it's gonna happen whether they like it or not, I meant in terms of fate will find a way to get Dobbs on the field. They might even be a series of injuries just as was the case at Tennessee for Dobbs to see the field.

Somehow someway he'll be playing next year.

The XFL starts next year.

If they really don't like the idea, they'll just cut him.

No. They like Dobbs just as New England liked Brady before 2001. They're just not believers that Brady/Dobbs can be the long term starter until they are proven wrong by necessity.

That's how Dobbs found his way on the field in college. For whatever reason Butch Jones was opposed to him playing until he had no choice. Same thing will happen in the NFL.

Steelers will have choice but to play Dobbs next season and he won't look back.

Expect to here a lot of "why didn't they play him sooner" talk once Dobbs starts lighting it up in the NFL like he did in college. Also expect that Mason Rudolph selection to get questioned once Dobbs emerges as a star. The Steelers will look silly on two fronts. On the one hand it'll be why didn't they play Dobbs earlier on the other it'll be why draft another QB when you had this guy.

Just remember I said all of this right. I promise it will come to fruition in about 5 months.

Not exactly. The Patriots believed in Brady enough to move him from 3rd to 2nd string by the end of his rookie year. The Steelers' faith in Dobbs resulted in him moving to the inactive list by the end of his rookie year.

We've covered this before. You can stop bringing up this false equivalency.

Or, in 8 months you'll have a new avatar.
