I was told that we always recruit like this.
I am not because then it becomes a Kansas and or other blue bloods to compete with instead of the Gators
And that makes sense, but I thought you also had said coming out of his Florida visit if he announces you feared we also lost him?
I think we have always aimed higher with a few kids early, but generally we haven't been able to gain much traction with them and we are eliminated early. Now that we are more of a name brand and have some success to show, we are getting into living rooms and getting kids on campus.
We no longer have to rely exclusively on identifying the lower-ranked, the unidentified, the tweeners, the fortunate foreign players, etc. We are legitimate contenders for top-100 kids. We need to start landing some of them to keep from having to scramble in the end. Before, we had developed relationships with the underrated well in advance because the elite were rejecting our advances early on. Now, we are targeting the elite almost exclusively, and if we fail to land any of them, we could be left scrambling for kids who fit the system well, but are underrated, and now we don't have a longstanding relationship with them.
The time is now to land the studs or we could see a regression.
The sooner this recruitment ends, the better for us, regardless of the outcome. Landing him by July would be ideal, but even losing him by July means we can move on with time to recover with our other primary targets.
Best case is Sturdivant commits to UF and Mann opts to so something soon...however just because he may not doesnt mean we cant recruit other guys. Continue to pursue the other PG options just as hard and if it gets serious you relay that to Mann.
At what point do we push for Tandy? Where is he at in his recruitment?
If you remove the commits from 2016 and 2017 then the percentages are similar...the reason I say remove them is because weve yet to land any of those guys, so if those commits end up as 3 star guys we take in the spring it will look very similar.

Few things got us to this point.
1. Our profile has been elevated as a program.
2. We have more scholarships to give
And finally the third point that some on this board wont want to admit to being a possibility.
3. We have an AD who values recruiting and sees UT for what it should be. Hes gonna encourage the staff to bring the best to UT.
