Recruiting Discussion

My guess is that Barnes knows he has a different boss now and the new boss expects that they are on the road and going after top talent. All coaches on staff.

My guess is Barnes doesn't give a rats ass who his AD is when it comes to who he is going to target in recriuiting.

It's not like he's a young coach needing to prove himself to a new AD

I will add this. I bet Fulmer isn't even paying attention to what is going on with Barnes at this point. Imo he fully trust him and doesn't feel the need to watch closely at all.

Any word on Davonte Gaines? Has he played anymore AAU since he got banged up?

Must not be too hurt if he doing this.

Maybe because it’s likely not true

Whatever dude. You're not even willing to admit we are recruiting differently.

Not surprised you don't think it's possible.

Anyways, just skip over it. Already had someone agree that it was a valid point. You've got Bruin agreeing with your side. It's all good. Just an observation I made. We have an AD who cares about recruiting. Barnes knows that to be the case. Magically the staff is all the sudden hitting the trail hard including Barnes.

Anyone with a pulse has to see they are recruiting differently. The article Dallas posted pretty much states that

Yup, impossible to think that winning, building a foundation, and creating relationships had anything to do with it...so by your theory majority of these highly ranked guys were offered after Fulmer became AD? I don’t believe that to be the case, but I’m all ears.

Add in 4 three star commits for the 2019 class and how do those numbers change? The difference imo, if it happens, is that they will have landed higher ranked guys. They’ve pursued highly ranked guys in the past, they just haven’t gotten the mutual interest they are getting this year...is that simply becaue Fulmer is now AD, or is it because we were a 3 seed last year and appear to be building a nice program?

It absolutely does. Just confirms what we all saw.

The staff is getting after it this spring/summer. I like it.
I think Barnes realizes the iron is hot right now and he has a good chance of landing some of these top recruits given the momentum of the program. Barnes missed out on some of his top targets in the past and I think it is fair to question his recruiting to a degree but I think anyone can recognize how poor a shape we were in when Barnes took over. Top recruits want to go to the top programs.
If we miss out on Burns and Mann and the other kids we are going after I will join in criticizing the recruiting.
But I don't think we will. Let's not forget how bad a shape we were in when Coach Barnes took over and look where we are now

Why not both ?
