Vols #1 in Revenue

Is it beginning to sink in that mediocrity and short changing $s for coaching was well accepted by UTAD up until recently? As long as the butts were in seats and $s were flowing in, it was a simple business decision to cheapen up the product and increase profits. They could have cared less about winning.

I wish our fans would realize this and demand more for their money.

What has Gundy proven to warrant 10 million? There are a very few coaches in CF that deserve that kind of money. And Gundy sure as hell isnt one of them.

What has Pruitt accomplished to warrant his contract? Gundy > Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Pruitt combined

So spend 10 million to get an above average coach and then have little money for a great staff? That seems like a winning strategy. Lol.

You pay a guy 10 million, everyone would expect double digit wins and conference championships extremely frequently. If you think Gundy would walk in here and win double digit games, you are insane. Gundy isnt an elite coach. As soon as Gundy lost a game he shouldnt have or failed to win the SEC, you and everyone else would be saying its time for him to go. UT went the safe route.

I find it hilarious we have all these financial experts on here telling everyone how UT should spend its revenue. Social media turns everyone into an expert. SMH.

Give Gundy UT’s resources, he’d easily kill it here.

No way in hell is he an “average coach”.

CbS sports say Gundy is 11th best. Jimbo overrated at #4. Let's see where Pruitt is next year. Right now he's #57. Nowhere to go up.

I wasn't, but I got over it. When you figure out a way to make the whining change things, let me know and I'll join in.

Your post above says Gundy is better than Pruitt. That's as true as Smart can't beat Pruitt.

5 months and the butthurt is still strong with some. We all have a choice, I choose to be excited about Pruitt and his staff. No one knows how its going to turn out, but like butchna once said, "we're all gonna find out at the same time".

If we're trying to catch Bama we need to be spending about $30 million more of that football revenue on the football program. More than enough for an 8-figure head coaching salary, 7-figure coordinator salaries, and a passel of 6-figure assistant and QC salaries.

....and we hired another roll of the dice coach.

chances are he will never be as successful here as we'd like. partly because he's got a lot yet to learn and partly because we have high expectations coupled with some very strong competition to overcome. at the end of the day, the buyout for Pruitt + whatever we're paying the next hfc will be =/> what it would have cost to lay the big bucks on the table and see which proven winner had the guts to take it.

Highest revenue yet we spend less than most of the teams we're looking up at. Bama has slightly less revenue and spends almost twice as much on football as UTK. If you want to win championships, spend football revenue on football and let the other stuff fend for itself.

Just goes to show what TONS of fans and alumni have been saying for YEARS...

UT CAN afford any coach they chose to hire. The only hold up is the lack of real leadership within the university system from top to bottom.

It’s always a fine plan when it’s someone else’s job. :)
