Vols #1 in Revenue

We offered huge money for coaches. I believe it was over 7 million for gundy. However T. Boone could match us and then a lot more. Money was not the issue for hiring a coach. Us having a lot of money is why our assistants and support staff are now the highest paid in college football.

Should’ve offered Gundy 10. You don’t get outbid if you’re serious. We haven’t been serious in a long while.

I get what you are saying but with that 10 mil comes a huge buy out . So now your looking at going all in , what happens if the big gamble doesnt pay off and he flops ? Risk / Reward . It’s a business model nothing more .

Quite an impressive conspiracy. Gotta credit the poker mindset. :)

The same poker mindset that floated the Gruden smokescreen to go hire a sub 500 coach with an alleged Sandusky tie?

The same mindset that conspired with UT hater Dan Wolken to do PR for Schiano?

The same poker mindset that in the past 3 coaching searches floated a "big name" (G. Patterson, who we lowballed) to appease the fanbase without making much effort to get the big name.

The DNA of the HoH is making bargain bin hires...

We have been a top this list for years and years. And we still suck. I say we offer Nick Saban 20 Million a year to come coach. Even if he turned down the offer Bama would have to pay it to keep him.

Why serve Filet Mignon when your customers will pay the premium but choke down Hamburger Helper with a smile?

I have said it before we pay more for less than the majority of teams.

You can say what you want, the administration is running a great business and a terrible program.

But don’t talk of boycotting games that’s not fair to the players who are not good enough to compete with the top programs.

This is probably the same business plan used for pilot/flyingj

What this tells me is we could've had Jimbo/Gundy-level coach. But HoH and most of administration have been fine with us languishing in mediocrity, maximizing profits.

Gundy level?

And I’m beginning to have my doubts about Jimbo. His NC was won with Jamis the rapist. Since then, nothing very impressive.

Have you been to Stillwater? How he gets out of state kids there, I don't know. Still wins 8 games pretty frequently.

Jimbo...FSU would have pushed Clemson for ACC title if Francios had played.

You don't want either of them I promise. Jimbo will fail. Gundy is B level coach at best.

"It's not 98 anymore. We aren't an elite program."

As long as we live in America, where the most important color is green, I disagree with that assessment.

What has Gundy proven to warrant 10 million? There are a very few coaches in CF that deserve that kind of money. And Gundy sure as hell isnt one of them.

Seems like that should warrant a very good team then:crazy:

Bud, I don’t know if you have ever heard this before but you get what you pay for in life.

UT has been shopping for coaches in the bargain basement and expecting the best results.

Yeah...that one. You make them look a lot more genius than they’re possibly capable of.

Is it beginning to sink in that mediocrity and short changing $s for coaching was well accepted by UTAD up until recently? As long as the butts were in seats and $s were flowing in, it was a simple business decision to cheapen up the product and increase profits. They could have cared less about winning.
