"You don't really care about Mr. Manafort,” U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III told Mueller’s team. “You really care about what information Mr. Manafort can give you to lead you to Mr. Trump and an impeachment, or whatever."

Further, Ellis demanded to see the unredacted “scope memo,” a document outlining the scope of the special counsel’s Russia probe that congressional Republicans have also sought.

I like how FOX put "lying" in quotation marks and then in the article it says "suggesting they lied about the scope of the investigation, are seeking “unfettered power”".

LOL! is right.

In case you missed my last post...:hi:

I read it in the link you provided. Thanks.

One sharp Judge. Mueller don't care about Manafort, only the information he can provide. Duh!

'If' the judge gets the unredacted “scope memo,”wonder what happens next in this case, and with the future appointment of the special counsel?

He will get it. I predict the case to go forward and Manafort flips within 30 days of the ruling.

While I admit I am giggling over this right now all that has happened is Judge Ellis is taking to task the Mueller team’s interpretation of their authority. And I don’t blame him I’ve made several comments of my own on it. However he has given them an opportunity to prove their position. But he’s also put them on notice about the scope of their evidence he’ll allow. He used an example of data from 2005 being relevant in a 2016 election and took them to task on relevance.

But the prosecutor has an opportunity to address this and I would guess Mueller still has an uphill fight. I am going to guess they have more evidence related to the 2016 timeframe. But if they don’t they are incompetent dumbasses and this is going to be winding down quickly.

But it’s great this judge is only going to let evidence related to the 2016 election factor into the case. Awesome position.

What make you think that?

He wants to drag this out. I think this actually plays into Muellers tactics. He wants to talk to Trump. If he loses leverage via Manafort he’s got nothing and he winds down. Trump tells him to pound sand on a sit down.

So he’d be at his biggest case thrown out with a sitting president saying “subpoena me, I dare you”. Mueller doesnt want that he would lose.

Ellis suggested that if he ruled in Manafort’s favor, the case could simply be returned to the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
