Florida played host to a top local prospect as four-star guard Tre Mann made an official visit to Gainesville Tuesday through this morning. The 6-foot-4, 170-pounder from The Villages (Fla.) High School was accompanied on the visit by his mother, father, step mother and cousin Mike Williams.
GatorsTerritory.com spoke with Williams to get his take on the visit and where things stand in Manns recruitment.
It went good, said Williams of the visit. I think the leaders are Florida and Tennessee right now.
Currently ranked the No. 37 prospect in the Rivals150 for the 2019 class, Mann holds over 20 scholarship offers with more schools entering the picture. Most recently Arizona State offered this afternoon and Kansas offered on Monday.
Kansas offered but I dont know how much theyre calling and they late in the game, said Williams. He liked the Tennessee visit and the Florida visit so I think from there hell narrow it down to those and he might take a look at UCF too, for Johnny Dawkins, but thats probably pretty much where hes at right now. I cant say later on but right now thats where hes at.
We asked Williams, who has been to Floridas campus multiple times with Mann on unofficial visits, if in some ways this visit was more for Manns parents given Manns familiarity with the campus and coaching staff?
Youre exactly right, he said. They liked the visit, same way they liked Tennessee. But theyre kind of like me Im going to leave the decision up to Tre to make the decision on what he wants to do because us telling Tre hey this is this and this and that I dont think that will work well. You know what Im saying? Were going to advise him but were going to let him figure this out on his own on where he wants to go.
With visits to Tennessee and Florida completed, Mann can take up to three more official visits before making his school choice. Once thought to be targeting a decision late in his senior year and being a spring signee, the finish line of Manns recruitment appears to be much closer.
I think hes going to announce where hes going before November, said Williams. Perhaps by the end of this week we asked? Nah not that soon.
