Did anyone see that guy not tap??
I just went back and watched the finish. It looked like he got hurt badly when they went to the ground. It looked like he went out at least twice (with :35 left and :25 as well) and then woke back up. His legs moving were what really made it difficult. It was natural instinct for him to be trying to buck with his legs, and when he was going out those muscles were still twitching heavily. I think he went out again inside the last 10 seconds and woke up right after the bell.
It should have been stopped at :35. But with the ref missing it and allowing the bell to sound, it shouldn't have been a finish.
I think it works for the little lightweight division, but that (expletive) doesnt fly at welterweight. Youve got a real All-American wrestler, not some sambo dude, so if he comes up to welterweight, hes going to get his head dunked and balls put on his forehead just like the rest of them.
I dont think hes that impressive. He couldnt even finish a real estate agent. Thats (expletive) sad.
Kinda looks like when Matt Serra hit GSP with a glancing blow on the back of the head and GSP was rocked and eventually KOed.
I don't know that the first one glanced him in any significant way. It was definitely the 2nd punch and Fedor gave him no time to recover. He hit him with big shots immediately.
To me it looks like Mir goes to grab because he completely whiffed on his overhand. He correctly realized he was vulnerable. It was all basically one motion. The ground is where he wanted this fight. Guys who get their bell rang don't have the presence of mind to instantly grapple. They stumble and/or stanky leg for a second.
I swear by all thats holy you would argue with a fence post.
Having trained for years....when I get rocked its what I do without even thinking about it. It just happens. Its reflex for BJJ guys. Like Mir for example.
Im guessing youve never seen fights where rocked fighters try to take down the ref.
