Yeah I remember seeing him on the sidelines or in the huddle once. Didn't know if he was hurt or what. Pope looked good there to me.

I was impressed with Pope as a FB.

If Blakely is better, then that’s a really good sign for the offense, IMO. Getting solid contribution in the run game from our TEs/FBs could really help out our OL.

A play as simple like a i form play action pull to the full back is so deadly especially in short yardagelol. You just don’t get that from our offense before

The Cowboys ran the play constantly in 2016 picking up chunks for Dak. Fake hand off naked bootleg with either Witten or fb on short out route and a wr running a deeper route to give him two options. Especially when the entire line washes out it is a simple simple play that's really really hard to stop.....when you have a good running game. We need Smith and Hall healthy

Being kind of picky here, but Calbert was actually out there with the 2s a bit Saturday.

I didn’t watch him closely enough to really see how he was doing, but it’s good he was able to get out there and get some experience. If he can stay healthy, he’s got a lot of potential a year or two down the road. If we have some injuries, we may need him this year.

No doubt. VQ mods said that was basically the first time he’s played a football game in two years. He’s certainly talented and has the size for the SEC. Hope he can play this fall.

Wouldn't be surprised if our starting safety's are Warrior and Theo Jackson.

This should be the case not sure if it will be though. Abernathy needs to play CB. So bad at saftey he isn't a last line of defense guy

Pope ran the ball a lot in HS, so no surprise he would be able to perform in the backfield. Blakely looks like he can help. Abernathy has never been anything but marginal. He should be at nickel to add any value IMO.

CFA was getting coached up on the sidelines so I assume he got snaps. I had a toddler running around so my attention was partial to the game.

Nah, that would be rude. Plus I don't know. But whenever there's a coaching change, guys leave. Especially when both sides of the ball are changing so much, this staff is looking for different types of bodies, new guys coming in and might take jobs, etc..

Transferring after a coaching change doesn't equal "soft quitter" necessarily. Why do you hate them so much?

Abernathy just isn't physical enough IMO. He's athletic enough, but in the long run I don't see him as a Pruitt type safety.

Agreed. Takes bad angles too. Maybe he can be coached up. I honestly thought he would’ve already been moved to another position or passed up on the depth chart.
