Pruitt - trying to push the entire program.

John/Jimmy - (would be) whining like always and shooting for clickbait.

Motive matters.

You're right. What's the motive of some posters taking a pretty tame, throwaway comment by Pruitt to run with that old "the fans are the problem" narrative? That's what I take issue with the most.

Can we return to be a perineal Top 10 program again?

I think your spell check has a sense of humor.

On another topic, I watched most of the Tennessee spring game. My uninformed impression was that the defensive players' heads were spinning with new assignments. Also, I'm pretty sure Pruitt will use his linebackers a lot more aggressively in the WVU game than he did in this one.

Idk.
Maybe the same as those taking the same "tame" comment and feigning outrage?

Message boards/first world problems?

I was there and I counted every single person. OK, I was there but I did not count them. The lower level opposite me was very full. I sat on the 30 in Section R. Though the upper levels were sparse, there were still a decent number of people up there and the lower endzones looked very full also. I totally agree with your assessment.

Anyone with a functioning agenda can make 20,000 people disappear. :)

Not sure if the D tired easily or didn't give full effort. They can work on that and see improvement by fall camp. Callaway and Warrior are going to be two of our playmakers. JG looked bigger and better, but there aren't many options behind him. Still think Chryst is coming in expecting to win the job.

Overall, it was vanilla on both sides with players trying to learn new schemes and adjust to new assignments, so it's hard to take much from it.

I think he expects to win it to but do the coaches expect him to win it?

Was anyone else impressed with Buchanan yesterday ?

I know he lost a 50/50 ball or two but I thought he was in position well a number of times

Lol!

Bottom line: 65k at a spring game doesn't make us a good or a bad fanbase. It's not evidence of fan apathy or a groundswell of support. And it won't have any bearing on the future success or failure of the program.

Speaking of Hyams:

Him and Pennington brought up the inflated numbers at least a half dozen times.

Jimmy decided the attendance was low BECAUSE of Pruitt limiting media access.

Oh, Jimmy.

Pennington is the worst person in all of Knoxville media. I don’t think it’s close.

I thought Buchanan and Osborne did pretty good. Warrior, sapp and Phillips were everywhere. They stood out. Barely noticed the olbs. Tuttle seemed to be holding back maybe scared of injury. Ignont never looked like he was trying. Didn't seem into it imo. Hopefully bituli can be that vocal leader we need on defense and get these guys on track.

I do wonder how many players aren't going to be able to adapt to the culture change and play with the fire and intensity the new staff expects. It's only been a few months so you have to believe more will come around, but the coaches are clearly fed up with some of them.

There will be a handful of transfers. I’m going to guess 3-5.

You say Sapp stood out but then say you barely noticed the OLBs? Tuttle dominated the inside he got past the center and guards a lot but stopped because he couldn't hit JG. It happened a lot with the DL on passing plays

Will say that Sapp whiff on Jordan will get talked about in Pruitt’s film cavern. :yuck:
