I agree but he is demanding excellence on the field. This team will be pretty good this year bc of the tough love coaching there getting along with actually being coached up for a change
I just cant believe people are upset with him being such a hard nose guy. Its already 200 times better then what weve had in along time
I don't think anyone's upset about being "hardnosed." Just don't talk about fan support when the number was in line with every other spring game. The spring game is not the time to talk about that unless we draw 20k. Just show a little tact to a fan base who has proven a thousand times over that they will support their team.
Alabama suspended the block-seating privileges of 20 student organizations on Friday, meaning any student can sit anywhere in the student section for todays game against Tennessee.
The school lists early departures and excessive tardiness as "unacceptable behavior" under its block-seating guidelines. Another violation could result in a suspension for the rest of the season.
"Ive talked about players playing for 60 minutes in the game and competing for 60 minutes in the game," Saban told Al.com. "And, in some kind of way, everybody that choses to go to the game should stay there and support the team for the game."
And if you dont want to stay for four full quarters? Well, Saban doesnt want you there at all.
"Maybe if youre not interested in doing that, you should let someone else go who would really like to go because I have a lot of people who want to go," Saban told the site.
"We have lots of recruits there, we like to see an enthusiastic full stadium," Saban told Al.com. "We have a beautiful stadium and one of the nicest venues in all of college football and I think we all should show our appreciation for it by staying and supporting our team for the whole game."
I dont think he meant it as seriously as people are taking it.
Pruitt, in his short time here, comes off as just as dorky as Butch, except Butch was all-positive and Pruitt is all-negative.
All that matters at the end of the day is winning, though. And Ive seen nothing to suggest we wont do it.
Cmon, who in the hell cares? Find something else to nit pick about. Damn
Some of yall Act like Majors never mentioned Pitt, or every other coach that wasnt born or raised in TN, hasnt mentioned some other program.
It happens. Hes a FIRST TIME HC. Hes going to have growing pains.
Geez give the guy a break
Agreed but there is no reason to put anything out there that Some fans will certainly take poorlyPruitt can say whatever he wants. And fans can say whatever they want about whatever he said. It works both ways. People can agree or disagree, like it or not like it, care or not care. But fans are going to have opinions-- lots of them-- when a coach speaks out.
From 2013 Saban on fans leaving early during blowout games:

There is a huge difference between Saban chiding fans and JP doing it. JMO of course, but if you're a HC and you want to criticize the fanbase, you better have a lot of good will built up. Saban had that when he made those comments; JP does not. I don't think this is a huge deal, but I do definitely think he would have been much better off thanking the fans for coming out, making some generic statement about how great the fan support is, and just leaving it at that.
He expects #1.
Aye God Woodrow, weve been dickering about lowered expectations for years now and the first time someone brings them we get our panties in a wad. I agree, maybe we are part of the problem. We dont know what winning really is anymore.
I do wonder how many players aren't going to be able to adapt to the culture change and play with the fire and intensity the new staff expects. It's only been a few months so you have to believe more will come around, but the coaches are clearly fed up with some of them.
If this narrative was being pushed by Jimmy Hyams, John Adams, or their ilk, not a soul on this board would be directing their ire at the fans. We'd all be in lockstop talking about the unfairness of that criticism.
While I was surprised to see how active he was with the QBs yesterday, I think he is going to have a hard time looking at his team as a whole as opposed to just the defesne. Imo nearly all his negative talk about intensity was about the D.
