I'm really hoping Alabama goes after Sweeney whenever Saban retires and not Pruitt. If I got hired by Alabama as their head football coach and Tennessee came calling, I wouldn't care what kind of program I'd built at Alabama, my rear end is headed to Knoxville. I'd be nothing more than a hired gun at Alabama. Got at inkling that Pruitt might be the same way.

You're probably right, and that is literally the only thing I don't like about JP, so far. I can't fault him for it, though. The man grew up a Bama fan, coached at Bama, won at Bama, and is now a head coach in the SEC at a rival school. It's a strange dichotomy but he's a professional and hopefully he handles himself as such the whole time he's here. I see no reason to think otherwise...so far.

Hyams and Adams need to go cover Ogre and LSU. Permanently. That's more their speed. Out with the trash media.

JG was significantly better. Timing will improve as they go through camp. Just a reminder that back shoulders and jump balls are built into the O and the QB's arsenal in today's schemes/techniques.

CJP will get better with the communication/media. He's learning as well. But he is a breath of fresh air as a real football coach. It appears his staff gets it as well. Saw a much better offensive scheme even though it was scaled back. The D was plain vanilla. They wanted to see who would compete at a high level without benefit of overdoing the scheming.

Expect to see some guys leaving, IMO. Time to prune the herd.

Agree on all points

So I'm trying to find a rerun of the game today on the SEC network. Can't find a rerun of our spring game for the next few days, but they've decided to rerun the Alabama and Georgia spring games like 5 times a piece over the same time period. That's called irrelevancy.

Sunday night at 8:00 on ESPNU.

I know this doesn’t do anyone any good now but the game was shown in its entirety on SECN alternate. Didn’t miss anything.

Not aired on my Dish here for some reason.

Thanks to Freak & youtube I just watched the start of the game. :salute:

I don't know what you have against JG, but that is not what I saw today. He looked very confident and accurate when he threw it over the middle. He put the ball where he was supposed to on the 50/50 balls. You made it sound like he was bailed out by the receivers and that is not what happened at all. He missed a few throws for sure and he still does hold it too long, but I think he is almost definitely our starter against WVU.

He’s not that good and you praise him for how he gets up after getting sacked multiple times.

I love challenging everyone like Pruitt is doing, fans, lettermen, players, coaches.

Hell I won’t lie, I thought dang should I have made the drive 4 hours to the game right after I read his quote.

If 37k more of us show up does that sway a recruit or help our guys play harder or get someone’s attention. Maybe. Does it make us bad fans or non loyal fans if we don’t show up, no. Do I like theirs a coach that’s willing to challenge us, hell yeah.

So....

When he's honest about the media, we love it.

When he's honest about expectations of the players, we love it.

When he's honest about expectations of fans, not so much.

We love his straight shooting, until it's aimed at us.

I do enjoy his honesty, but you don't understand this? Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

He doesn't need to care about the media (although they could be beneficial at some point). The players have to accept his coaching and trust him to get them to the next level. The fans? They bring in the money. Without donations, tickets, concessions, etc., the program doesn't exist. Just how that works.

The fans are the one group that you use some tact with. Just the way it is.

I love that we now have a true football coach, but I think he still has some learning to do. I just don't think he should have gone there. The attendance at the spring game was no different than the last 20 years.

Pruitt, in his short time here, comes off as just as dorky as Butch, except Butch was all-positive and Pruitt is all-negative.

All that matters at the end of the day is winning, though. And I’ve seen nothing to suggest we won’t do it.

That’s the truth. In the end it’s only about a few things. Winning and winning without major sanctions

Like he said in his first Pc. It takes everyone being all in not just players and coaches. He keeps saying everyone needs to quit using the other "deal" as an excuse. We can't change past only the future. He is holding everyone to a high standard. He expects sell outs to be great not 67k to be ok with being solid. If that stadium is packed that makes an impact on recruits. 67k doesn't make an impact. Even another 20-30k makes that place louder and gives more energy.

That is what Pruitt is getting at. At same time he needs to push promotion a lot sooner and not the Monday of the week. That is where butch was good at the marketing side he got on it early. Pruitt waited to last minute but I think he expected it to be a standard of our fan base to fully bring the house

He made a clear distinction between us good fans and you quitter fans so it's not accurate to lump us all together. :)

P.S. His buyout as of today is approximately $13,110,000. He probably ain't worried about being fed.

Also, might as well get ready for it. Anyone leaving the game early in the future...up/downs. :)

Doesn't seem dorky to me. Maybe if your offended it's dorky but he just comes off as a guy that isn't going to settle for good. He wants championships.

I still have this thought that they wanted the offense to show out because that has been what kids having had questions about. Nobody questions what his defense eventually becomes. I for one was impressed with fundamental scheme of the offense. We use the entire field vertically and horizontally; mainly pushing the ball forward. Good mix of run and pass and getting playmakers the ball with ability to make plays

I don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama...

And our HC REALLY shouldn't (or at least act like it).

Cmon, who in the hell cares? Find something else to nit pick about. Damn

Some of y’all Act like Majors never mentioned Pitt, or every other coach that wasn’t born or raised in TN, hasn’t mentioned some other program.

It happens. He’s a FIRST TIME HC. He’s going to have growing pains.

Geez give the guy a break

It's ridiculous what we nitpick. The guy has barely been here it takes a while. He was telling a story for Christ sake

Finally Got a coach that demands excellence
Why are people upset
He knows what the possibilities are at Tennessee and wants nothing but the best and Tennessee has the potential to be on of the top schools in the nation.... I’m talking Bama/Clemson level every year

He will get what he wants when he demands excellence on the field. He doesn't need to remind us that we need to support our program. For crying out loud, our fan base redirected a coaching hire, and he was the beneficiary. If you improve it, we will come.

I agree but he is demanding excellence on the field. This team will be pretty good this year bc of the tough love coaching there getting along with actually being coached up for a change

I just can’t believe people are upset with him being such a hard nose guy. It’s already 200 times better then what we’ve had in along time
