Man I’m liking Pruitt more every day. Isn’t married to some infallible scheme, adjusts scheme to player/personnel strengths, speaks the truth. The guy is just a football coach.

Yep. I really enjoy his pressers. He usually gives decent info if the reporter frames his question properly and doesn't just set Pruitt up to shut down a stupid question. And there's usually some subtle comedy in a few responses. And of course all the reasons you stated too. There was another bit where the reporter asked if he had expectations or things he was looking for in the 2nd scrimmage that were different than the 1st. He just laughed and said, it's football man, just wanna see football. I think some of these reporters will learn how to tailor their questions in a way Pruitt will actually answer, but I do enjoy the ones he just shuts down. It's funny. :lolabove:

Did you watch the press conference yesterday? Somebody asked him if he will use fullbacks and TE's much. He basically said he'll use whatever formation got the best personnel on the field. He also said we definitely don't even have a FB on the roster right now and he's not sure we have a TE yet either. He said if they can't block they're basically receivers and at that point he'd rather have a real receiver on the field. It was a pretty funny exchange. And something we probably already knew about our TE's. I think Helton can adapt his offense to our personnel this year and still be good, especially if DWA comes in as advertised. You can tell by those comments and the TE's we're after that our offense will probably evolve with the next couple of classes. Also, if any of the current TE's look like real TE's and are productive in the fall, then Niedermeyer would deserve some real credit.

I haven’t had the chance to watch his recent press conferences. It’s earnings and tax season, so work sucks. But, none of that surprises me. I’ve been worried about the TE position since last summer. The last staff did not replenish that position basically since the point Ethan Wolf got to campus 4 years ago.

And just to add to yer speaks the truth comment. It doesn't seem like he's even embellished anything in the slightest so far. There hasn't been a hint of sugar coating. But he has done that without trying to lower anybody's expectations which I think is impressive. Some coaches seemed to try exactly the opposite. Sugar coating while trying to lower expectations. It was a weird strategy that never seemed to jive with reality. I'm pretty hopeful Pruitt is the right guy for the job. He seems to have all the tools to be a very successful head coach.

Oh no you don't!

Hahahaha

A+

Labor unions are just as bad as lobbyists. Both are paid to swing the pendulum way past center in almost all cases.

A player could participate in up to four games...any games...and retain their redshirt.

It sounds like the new redshirt rule is going to pass - FootballScoop

Edit: Found an article dated today in the Baton Rouge Advocate that says the vote is next week. Ironically, the backdrop of the story goes into the disgust Nick Saban felt when he had to insert Travis Daniels, due to injuries to several other players, into the 2001 SEC Championship game in the third quarter, for his first action of the planned-redshirt year.

That game never happened.

So, after reading the article on the nominees to the UT BOT, I think that the guy from Pilot who was not on the former board is still going to be on it. I think that should be a matter of concern.

I wonder if they aren't thinking of using Fant as a fullback? Just seems that with his size, he would be a great lead blocker. Pruitt's press conferences are a breath of fresh air. No sappy slogans or coach speak.

I don't think so. Fant is up to 225 but that seems to be the size rb Pruitt wants. He probably would want a much bigger fb. But I doubt we will use a fb much ever. They don't really exist anymore. May use a te/hb or dt as a lead blocker situationally. But not in base offense.
