Smacked a kid on the helmet to get him to take a knee. What the hell is happening in sports? My high school basketball coach smacked me so hard on the knee in a timeout I think I still have his handprint. Know what happened? I did what he told me. Haha.

Well.....you did become a lawyer.....so.....

Kids are just damn soft. Damn happy we have a coach that isn't going to allow it

Are we sure he is on THIS planet?

Yea I am on the planet that says practice and team is important. Missing it for bumps, bruises or personal pleasures isn't acceptable. Jeremy Pruitt is changing the culture in this regard and it's damn sure a good thing.

I heard he needed to show more personally before the Spring even started. I don’t know if it’s footwork or effort but he may not have put the extra work in to make an easier transition this offseason.

I’ve been wondering about his work ethic and attitude. Also, wasn’t there someone on here that was supposed to be related to him that said he doesn’t like to hit?

I wouldn't call it Byrd flopping at CB. He didn't really have much time there to flop. It sounded more like Pruitt felt long term his skill set was better if at Saftey to use his ball skills.

It's not always about the short term. Imo Pruitt is getting a long term view of his roster this spring to know what he really has to recruit strongly for the next two classes. In the fall you will probably see more of what the actual rotations will be.

He has said he will play the next best player and move guys around. I could easily see a situation pop up where you start seeing guys like Abernathy get run at CB. No telling who is already as media gets like 5 minutes. I saw gray getting some CB work one video and no media even seemed mentioned it

I only saw the Bleacher report alert but didn’t read it yet. Is that really what the “hit” was? Can’t believe they would put a coach on leave for that.

i took it as all that, AND byrd flopped at corner........

Maybe I've missed something but I don't think they ever put him at corner. All of the practice reports I've seen since the first practice of spring have said he worked at safety. So maybe it was less him flopping at corner and more about Pruitt thinking he is better suited for safety and wanting to keep him there. I'm not sure how the VQ guys would know for sure anyway since they only seem to see about 10 minutes of practice and the coaches refuse to utter the names of players.

hm. the tyler byrd experiment at corner is over. shamburger at nickel.

i'm not going to go so far as to say WTF....but at the same time, i would have bet on shamburger at corner, and i guess i'm just a bit disappointed that we have yet to figure out what Byrd can do on a football field yet.

especially at a position like CB where we need #'s.

i am a little surprised at both of those pieces of info.

Butch totally ruined Byrd as a football player...what a waste..smh.

I thought they moved him to S to start with? Did they try him at CB?

Edit* Swansoned by Sleegro

i thought they did...and by the opening line of #2 on Gucci's post:

2. Cornerback is the biggest question mark on the roster – The Tyler Byrd experiment doesn't seem to have much traction

i took that to mean that the experiment was over, specifically at corner, since that is what they were talking about.

i honestly don't know specifically that they did try him at corner....just connecting the dots on that post.

so yeah, it could just be me.........:eek:lol:

You still tight with Scott Carter?

I assume this will blow over?

Then that was a dumb move. He should have known playtime was over.

It was kind of a vague statement. Who knows how much VQ even knows about it?

dunno. a topic gets presented, it gets discussed. we find out later whether or not said topic was valid or not.:)

anywho, my bigger issue with any of it was the continued bad news on our issues at CB, and having a kid that's supposed to be as good as Byrd has been reported to be, not working out (for whatever reason) at a position of such need, is frustrating.

the shamburger news is much less distressing to me because i do think he's a heck of a player, and will have an impact at either spot, nickel or corner.

just #'s wise, we're better off at nickel/safety than we are at corner.

I just think there was an assumption he would be tried at corner because of his background and the need there, but I haven't seen anything that says he has practiced anywhere but safety this spring. It seems more likely to me that Pruitt just thinks his best position is safety so he will keep him there regardless of needs at CB. Not sure whether that is good or bad but I don't see it as some huge failure on Byrd's part.
