Pope: There Is No Hell

The same word for wine is used for the wine that ran out, the wine Jesus made, and the wine Jesus has at the last supper.

The same word for drunk is used in Galatians and is used in John to describe the guests through the mouth of the servant.

The bare bones literal translation is thus that these are all the same. Only context can alter this.

Grape juice

I get that. I'm asking why, according to the verse you quote, should we accept that it's grape juice and not full bodied wine?

You interpret it as such because you already believe alcohol is bad and thus this new wine that is good can't be alcohol. But, the verse doesn't say that.

NB. This is posted while I'm enjoying a nice red blend with a Priest as we revel in enjoyment.

Romans 14:21 (KJV)
21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

This is all the verse I need to stay away from that hog slop.

Good for the stomach.

This is actually true. Baptist denomination predates the reformation, Luther, protestants, etc...the 1st Baptist, of course, was John the Baptist, of which Christ sppke higher than any other man of the time. Ij am not a Baptist, btw..though I am a member of a Baptist church. Don't claim any denomination, don't think God cares. He cares how and when we worship, and what we love and believe. My opinion

Jesus came and died for a relationship. Not a religion. Denominations are irrelevant.

"Well, that's just like your opinion, man."

Signed,
All the people that make money based on denomination

Not saying they’re wrong to be in one at all.

People interpret what they read differently so we have denominations of Christianity.

How about I ask you?

If you say that being a drunkard is a sin, and to be a drunkard is to be habitually drunk, then at what point is does getting drunk become habitual?

This is a trick question.
The mark of a habit isn't quantitative.

If baseball causes you to sin....don’t play

Today, I sinned.

After attending Easter Mass with my wife, we went over to my parents house to carouse with my dad and mom (who was declared cancer free in December and is just now back to full strength), my brother, his wife, and his two children, my sister, her husband, and their six children, my younger sister, my aunt and uncle, and our very good family friend Father Tom.

At around one, I poured myself my first glass of red wine. From one until seven, I drank, consistently refilling the cup. I played monster with my nephew, cards with a few nieces, and had both fun and deep conversations with my family and Father Tom. Everyone was very happy, laughing, joking, hugging each other. The festivity was bookended by prayers led by Father Tom, Jesus and the resurrection being the focal point of the prayers.

It was a great afternoon of togetherness, companionship, and love. But, alas, most of us were drunk.

If your God doesn't look at the afternoon I just experienced and smile, then your God, even if that is the God that exists, is not worth a damn. That's a mean God.

I think the God of the Bible, on a reasonable interpretation, can be understood as a loving God and a God that would smile upon and bless what occurred today.

You post well for a drunk.

Great news on your mom. To continued recovery and future health.

I do. I certainly could not operate a vehicle in this condition, but I can still think, reason, and write, well into multiple glasses of wine, beer, bourbon, gin, etc.

As for my mom, thank you. Her prognosis last summer gave her a 12% chance at being alive today, and she's doing great.

Bet there are some adulterers somewhere in the world using the same justification for God to bless their activity.

That's outstanding. Bleak odds. Glad she is the exception.

I have already posted enough scripture to give plenty of reason to arrive at my conclusion. Jesus didn't break the scriptures. If you have to go to the Greek to get your interpretation, then I don't have any confidence in that conclusion. James Strong worked along side Westcott and Hort, therefore I have no confidence at all in his Greek lexicon. :hi:

Does the KJV say Jesus turned water into grape juice?

Interpretation is not a quantity thing.

Also, "if you have to go to the language it was originally written it", is how you should have phrased that so that everyone could see how ridiculous that retort is.
