So you do not hold the players accountable at all?..That is where we differ, and I would appreciate it if people understood that. I am not trying just take a dump on guys for no reason. They didn't want to work, so they didn't work, they didn't want to compete so they quit. They would rather be embarrased than to put forth any effort. I saw zero effort out of 80 percent of the team.

I remember the actual games. In a season where the staff lost the players by the UMass contest. Even then, in the early going against UGA, the players COMPETED. Went toe to toe before the bottom went out after bad teaching compounded mistakes. Even moreso against Bama...that was a viable contest in the first half. This was an ingrained trait by the Vandy game. None of that to say that we don’t get railroaded by superior talent if our coaching and teaching is right, only that reality is somewhere in the middle. We were more talented than our record showed and that talent didn’t quit...like a huge number of our fanbase did.

If this team competes and tries I will applaud them all the way no matter how bad it gets. Pruitt will try to get them to, but I just doubt that he can. I think too many of them are not interested in doing what it takes.

Once again...I really really really hope I am wrong.

Those not interested will be shown the door. Pruitt seems to be very much a no nonsense coach. No more free rides.

So you think we have a whole team full of 3,4 and 5 stars, and all of them are lazy pansies. What are the odds that EVERYONE we signed over the last few years are ALL just lazy and have no competitive desire? There was a reason we looked so bad last year. Are you gonna tell me that if you had a job where you hated your boss and didn’t believe in him, you would do your job with the same amount of passion?

I agree with most of this but I think a huge number of our fanbase quit on butch, not UT football. Although that was in peril too during the SchiaNOmo

Need restaurant recommendations for pigeon forge/Gatlinburg first time taking the family.

Depends on your budget. Mel's Diner is one of our favs. I'd suggest going to TripAdvisor and Yelp to get the opinion of more than just a few people.

Guys, I get that it's just spring practice. That any news is good news with a new coach. That recruiting rankings go out the window as soon as a player is on campus. I truly do.

But I'm having a real hard time keeping my excitement level low here. We got a 2020 top-100 athlete (who could very well decommit and go to UGA/Bama/Clemson down the line). We got Lowe, who is all-in about to turn up the heat on other 2019 recruits.

And everything Pruitt is doing in practice is the exact opposite of Butch.

The stationary sleds! Like, Butch just complained with 2-3 players getting actual reps and the others standing in line getting "leadership reps" while waiting to get actual reps.

David Johnson coaching up walk-ons like they're scholarship players, instead of relegating them to be "practice dummies".

We're seeing players moving around, getting hit, blocking each other. Not a ton of standing around with hands on hips.

Butch was like Scott Brooks with OKC when they had KD-- "Just go out there, be athletic, and try hard." CJP is a teacher and a doer, and while I'm still only expecting six wins next year, I'm getting more and more optimistic about our long-term future. Maybe unhealthily so.

We were 4-8 because of coaching and having a HS OC as OC. There is talent to work with. People seem to forget we should have won 10+ previous 2 yrs. everyone acts like we been 4-8 the last 3 yrs or something. Heck last yr team was like 15 pts away from 7-8 wins

There is so little difference in a 5-7 or a 7-5 team so many times. Hopefully we catch a couple breaks and stay pretty healthy.

If we don't falsely claim injuries just to not play our best players that will be an improvement. Then having s&c and practice programs that are more proven in preventing injuries and that can improve. I have never seen a team have as many injuries as we've had the last two years. Eventually we have to regress to the mean. Hopefully that starts now.

Thought I'd share some stats I put together re: Will Friend.

Couldn't really find any reliable stats prior to 2008. Hopefully the attachment feature works. If not, I might edit with a direct copy/paste.

Basically, expect a marginal year in 2018. But talk about a legitimate resume. He only regressed in 2010 because UAB went from having a running QB to a pocket QB.

At both UGA and Colorado St, his OL unit reduced sacks allowed every year he was there, while averaging 5+ YPC from his second year onward.

I needed to see the numbers with my own eyes before a blind buy-in based on quotes from peers and recruits. Dude's forreal.

Will Friend coaching career:
2007 - 2010 UAB OL
2011 - 2014 Georgia OL
2015 - 2017 Colorado St OC/OL

UAB | Rush YPG | Rush YPC | Sacks Alwd | SY Alwd
2007: 110 | 3.2 | x | x
2008: 169 | 4.66 | 21 | 162
2009: 230 | 5.96 | 21 | 124
2010: 156 | 4.48 | 12 | 86

Note: Joe Webb (QB) was the leading rusher in both 2008 and 2009.

Georgia | Rush YPG | Rush YPC | Sacks Alwd | SY Alwd
2010: 142 | 4.07 | 25 | 204
2011: 164 | 3.95 | 33 | 186
2012: 183 | 4.87 | 27 | 168
2013: 170 | 4.55 | 22 | 140
2014: 258 | 6.04 | 17 | 110

Note: Leading rushers: Crowell (2011), Gurley (2012, 2013), Chubb (2014).

Colorado St | Rush YPG | Rush YPC | Sacks Alwd | SY Alwd
2014: 159 | 4.76 | 28 | 202
2015: 198 | 4.81 | 17 | 109
2016: 218 | 5.25 | 13 | 114
2017: 200 | 5.03 | 13 | 75

The only spots that 2013 team had an edge were OL and CB. Everywhere else was either worse or a push, IMO.

I wouldn't even say CB. I know Coleman got a roster spot with the Pats after going undrafted but that was it.. Linebacker, however.. I loved the AJ Johnson and Curt Maggitt combo, even though AJ couldn't cover the pass very well.
