I've got a lot of the same questions. It certainly seems like prospects are taking a wait and see approach with the staff. They probably want to talk to current players after spring training breaks to get a feel for how this staff operates practices. More potentially disturbing is that many will wait to see if this staff can win games and,as usual, out best chances to win conference games and achieve bowl eligibility will come in November with ESD on December 19. Supposedly, we got an all star recruiting staff. Most everyone gave them a mulligan for 2018. If they don't deliver this time, I think they'll be in too deep of a hole to climb out of.
i think it's fair to take a wait and see approach, fans and recruits alike... they're doing all they can with the spring ball to open it up to recruits and HS coaches so they can 'see' what they're all about, and what it'll look like. fans are getting more of an idea as well. definitely different than CBJ's ways......short of games in the fall, that's all you can do at this point.
i think from reading recruit's comments after visits, the staff is doing nothing to hurt themselves with these 2019 guys. and it's still early enough to where they can gain some ground and win some of those battles.
the reality is, for most of the higher rated recruits, it'll be later in the summer, in to the fall, before a lot of them commit.
that said, it would be nice, especially on the offensive side of the ball, to see a couple guys pull the trigger, and provide some momentum for some other offensive guys to see what the future might hold, if enough of these kind of guys wind up here.
a top notch QB doesn't want to come play behind a bad OL, WR's don't want to come play with ?'s at QB etc, etc, etc.....
i think it's prudent though to hold off on any judgements until after December. gotta long way to go. and a season to play.
was nice to see the '20 commitment we got yesterday....top 100 player, #6 athlete in that class, and could rise.
