Not many governors care enough about college sports to pass corrective legislation. But that was already explained to you.

Haslams appointees will remain long after his term is gone. But that was already explained to you.
Whether you are willfully or unintentionally ignorant of these facts, you just repeat the same uninformed remarks.

And for someone that sleeps just fine regardless of Haslam, you spend an awful lot of time being triggered whenever a few guys on a message board speak ill of him.

Ok. Thanks for setting me straight.

If you have preexisting conditions like diabetes, you can’t. ObamaCare was trumpeted as not allowing that to be held against you but that’s for employer obtained only. After my wife died, I had to subsidize my daughter’s insurance out of pocket whilst I relied on the VA. No one accepted what I had purchased. The insurance that you can simply purchase that covers squat after a deductible is hefty. I was pretty secure financially and I took a huge hit. Sold my business and working as a contractor. Wasn’t a millionaire but your view is unrealistic. You know simple millionaires want to live a while, right? We’re not really in an argument. You’re stating that taking a job that has free insurance attached is stupid for anyone that has a net worth in 7 figures. Ancillary costs can tap you. Large numbers of millionaires don’t pass away with that status. My COBRA costs per month were $1600 btw

I never said it was stupid, and I can't afford any insurance at all right now. My last job I had insurance that covered squatdoodle, and my deductible was pretty high. I needed some imaging done to determine the cause of pain my abdomen and couldn't get them done because my insurance didn't cover them, and I couldn't afford them..so I just suffered.

If you're a lower middle class working guy, nobody cares if you die in a pile. I do not have much compassion for folks that gripe about paying for insurance they can afford, but just don't want to. When I get another job, I will get whatever pathetic, almost useless and overpriced garbage they offer just to cover worst case scenarios.

Who griped? It was just a benefit of the job he took. And it was sound financially.

I'm not arguing with you, I was not saying you said that...I was just expressing my feelings in general about the situation. It sucks for you, it really sucks for me too.

What's the outlook on the 19 recruiting class? We really need to land a top ten class come signing day next year. Anything less will be a pretty sizable disappointment for me.

It’s 10 months away and we have one commitment

I would say the outlook is rather incomplete but they are trying to get top players

Some posts from a poster on VQ who watched practice today...

QB- JG is noticeably bigger and throws a nice ball even with wind today. He made some nice plays. McBride is serviceable.

RB- Chandler still looks small to me. Very fast and hits the hole hard. Chandler is dangerous in space. Fant is big and runs hard. I could see him sticking at RB. Coleman didn’t stand out much.

FB/TE- James Brown made a lot of plays. Eli Wolf is small and didn’t impress me much. Pope was impressive. That kid plays hard.

WR- Callaway is the best WR. Palmer and Johnson are solid as well. Murphy impressed me. Williams and Jones are fast. Taylor is going to be good one. He is an ATHLETE. Raw but super athletic.

OL- First five did some nice things. No depth at all. Will Friend is an intense dude. He flat out gets after it. OL will have a different mindset, I promise you that. Best OL coach since Pittman easily.

DL- Tuttle, Kongbo and Phillips were the first three out. Johnson and Butler looked good as well.

LB- Sapp and Ignont manned the middle with Bituli leading from the sideline. Smith and Taylor outside. Allen and Thaxton the next guys in. Bates rotated in the middle.

DB- Warrior and Abernathy looked good at safety and made some nice plays. Byrd impressed me at safety but was inconsistent. Osborne and Buchanan were the corners with CFA and Bailey backing them up. Shamburger was only Star I seen.

It’s funny how a different approach gets embraced for simply being different. Taggart plays music at practice and the fans love the fun atmosphere. Jimbo STOPPED the music at A&M practices and the fans love the serious business approach. Pruitt stops the music at our practices...:)

Until 2015 it was hard to argue with much of what Butch and his staff were doing. With the close losses in '15, for what more than a few attributed to in-game ineptness on Butch's part, an ever increasing number of fans were becoming disgruntled. What's worse and imo the turning point in his downfall was there seems to have been a revolt (a mostly peaceful revolt but a revolt nonetheless) in the locker room after '15. After embracing the expectations for 2016 precious few fans would join Butch in his lack of disappointment with how the season played out. 2017 was all about finding a change. Any slight indication of change will give increasing numbers of fans reason enough to believe again and deep down we all want to believe. If you think about it long and hard enough you'll begin to see all the red flags that might foretell our future unrest but now is not the time to think about that. We're starting over and we want to believe in hope and change where ever we are and whatever school we pull for. In the end most of us are consciously gullible and naive. We just want something or someone to believe in and it needs to be a bit different than what we just lost faith in.

I'm probably one of the few people that liked Dooley. I didn't think he was a good leader but as a personality, I liked him. He was I guess, entertaining. I never really warmed up to Butch. His smuggness I think was a putt-off. Working under Saban may help him with his lack of humility and lack of authenticity. I thought it was a good move for him and even better to accept the label of intern. Jeremy, hell, I don't even care if he wins.. I like the guy. I hope it works out and he gets to stay for a good while but I know for most people a lot more things need to change than just the music. jmo.

Seeing Shamburger listed as Star sent me to google.

Saban looks for certain qualities in a Star.

“You can be a really good Star and not have the long speed to be a good corner,” he said. “Long speed being that if a guy runs a takeoff on you, you have to run and not get out run when the ball is in the air.

“If you have really good quickness and cover ability, the slot guy (receiver) has a hard time beating you in that position, because he's closer to the safeties, he's closer to the middle of the field. So a good tackler, a good blitzer, a good cover guy on a slot player, which is different than a good cover guy on an outside player.”

Money is a hybrid linebacker. He has some responsibilities defending against the run.

“It helps that the guy's a little bit bigger and physical, because sometimes he has to cover a tight end, which is a bigger guy,” Saban said. “But he also, unless you change personnel, has to be good enough to do the same things that the Star does.”

Seems like Rumph has really been on Austin Smith this spring. Hopefully they can get something out of him. Kid definitely has potential, but I wonder if maybe the previous staff was too hands off with him. He showed promise his first semester on campus, but then ate himself into a DL and never seemed to be able to get and stay healthy.

Kind of makes me wonder what exactly was going with him in the S&C program before.

He fell on a helmet

You guys think there will be any plays for JG to run an option

Hard to say but there is this bit of history in the resume of our new OC.

In 2007, Helton joined the UAB Blazers staff as quarterbacks coach under head coach Neil Callaway. His father, Kim, had been hired as the Blazers' offensive coordinator. Under Helton's tutelage, UAB quarterback Joe Webb became the first player in NCAA history to pass for over 2,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons.

Nice to hear that Brown looks good at TE. I’d kind of forgotten about him, honestly.

Surprised we haven’t heard much about Bumphus at TE thus far. Perhaps that lends a little credence to the speculation that he’d see a move to DL at some point.

I've got a lot of the same questions. It certainly seems like prospects are taking a wait and see approach with the staff. They probably want to talk to current players after spring training breaks to get a feel for how this staff operates practices. More potentially disturbing is that many will wait to see if this staff can win games and,as usual, out best chances to win conference games and achieve bowl eligibility will come in November with ESD on December 19. Supposedly, we got an all star recruiting staff. Most everyone gave them a mulligan for 2018. If they don't deliver this time, I think they'll be in too deep of a hole to climb out of.

A few exciting guys comin in today.
Stay tuned will be interested if anyone reports on it. Tomorrow practice I suspect some names will come out. Follow the “eyes”
