I’m ready to compromise

I would say:

1) Raise age to 21
2) Ban bump stocks
3) Ban magazines over 10 rounds (except for law enforcement)
4) Allow lawsuits against purchasers of guns that are stolen and then used to commit violence.
5) Allow purchasers to obtain insurance for # 4.
6) Allow states to mandate # 5 if they so choose.
7) Require background checks for all firearms purchases.
8) Increase presence of SROs on school campuses.
9) Allow states to require metal detectors at schools and public entertainment venues if they so choose.
10) Allow law enforcement to file petitions for seizure of firearms from those considered a threat to themselves or others, with a hearing to be held within 72 hours to determine whether the seizure is justified and to be continued.

Ok, I'll compromise.

1. Fine as long as we raise the age of adulthood to 21. Basically anything a person can legally do at the age of 18 goes to 21.
2. NO
3. NO
4. Ok but here is my compromise. If a criminal has been in the system before and an attorney has gotten them off, reduced sentence ext and they re-offend allow the new victim to sue said attorney.
5. Sure.
6. NO
7. I'll compromise, as long as the specific firearm info isn't included.
8. OK
9. Can't they already?
10. NO

Additionally on 7 don’t include the firearm info at time of check and the total record needs to be expunged after a period. Without expunging the exchange record you create a defacto list of firearm owners. It’s none of their damn business if it’s a legal transaction.

You backpedaled period. Common sense was posted several times after your dumb assed response and you figured since one of your own guys called out the "48 hour" rule you needed to save face.

In this stupid new law that you just proposed we would have 48 hours after we knew the gun was stolen. Now who in their right mind would say, I realized it was missing 5 days ago and just now told the authority?

Common sense ain't so common. You prove it with every post.

good god you're stupid.

why should legal gun holders be held accountable for a criminal that steals something and commits a criminal act

Because they’re the ones with money.

I would love to see a lawyer spin a yarn that a law abiding citizen who has personal property stolen from within their home or car was a) grossly negligent and b) did so with malicious intent.

Says the guy who proposes x y for gun control but doesn't know what the values of each are. Keep on backpedaling.

If I would have known the values, I would have used them instead of variables. Why do you think I used x and y instead of actual numbers? Keep proving my point. smh

First time I ever agreed with a Gator. :p

That is what is commonly and incorrectly labeled "gun show loophole". So if you want to have background checks on all firearm sales you need to eliminate the person to person private party sale proviso.

Which is impossible. How do you eliminate the private sale of...anything? Selling a gun to a buddy of mine is just as easy as selling a computer or a TV to someone.

"Gun show loophole" is a scare-mongering term and makes gun rights advocates suspicious of gun control advocates. If I'm not mistaken, the vast majority of gun sales at gun shows are actually done by licensed gun dealers, where a federal background check is required and will be completed. A private sale, which is what gun control advocates want to require background checks for, can occur anywhere.

I can call a buddy of mine right now and sell him a gun, just like I could sell him a recliner or a TV. How are you supposed to enforce a law that requires a background check to be performed? That's where the fear of such a proposal comes in; how would it be enforced? A national gun registry? I'm not sure; you tell me, but I see what it alarms gun rights folks.

So, as I understand it, the children want:
1) ban automatic weapons
2) ban bump stocks
3) 21 years old to purchase
4) close gun show and internet loopholes.

My compromise is regulate automatic weapons and you can have the rest.

Fully automatic weapons/machine guns are essentially banned. Machine guns lawfully owned prior to May 19, 1986 can be transferred if approved by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives. Bump stocks were a work around and should have died without ever seeing the light of day.

The big issue that no one addresses (and you can guess why) is the sale of guns to criminals by other criminals. Why mess with the legal market when anyone could manage to get a gun illegally anyway? Go after the things that matter first. Keeping Obama and Holder off the streets and out of the gun market would have been a better first step.

It's always much easier to go after the people who comply with laws than those who don't ... all the while fantasizing that you are actually doing something of importance and significance.

Come on guys, really? Take a look at the 4 things that the little morons in NY were touting and check my list. I am ready to give them everything THEY want with the exception of banning automatic weapons. I propose those be regulated.

CAN YOU NOT SEE WHAT I AM TRYING TO DO?????? I AM COMPROMISING JUST LIKE LUTHER, OBV and MORONIC MICK DO!

AM, I figured you would get this and go along.

My 1 is what we already have; I don't care about bump stocks (personally); 21 for a gun is fine with me, it won't hold up in court; and 4 doesn't exist. I can compromise away everything they want and give up absolutely nothing.

Wrong, you're just lazy and weak. You want someone else to figure out what x and y are. Typical liberal dumbassery.

Why are so many liberals hung up on magazine capacity?

Switching out an empty magazine with a full one takes a few seconds.

This is completely meaningless. Let’s instead focus on the failings which got us to this point. Pro tip: it has nothing to do with the lack of firearm restrictions

In every editorial about how this country and our society has been dumbed downed, an illustration of you should be included

Because "we have to do something" and they don't know how any of this works.......

They just want the feels.

It's the second commandment of gun control.

But not a one can tell you how they came up with that arbitrary number of 10.
