Have you ever shot a holographic weapon sight? I prefer them to target projected red dots. I can easily shoot with both eyes open and really like the reticle. The EXPS-2 co witnesses lower third with the iron sights.

The only difference I can find in the EXPS-2 and -3 is the NVG compatibility. Just didn’t matter to me.

My brother has an eotech on his lwrc. I like them. I'm thinking you can mount the shorter ones on a pistol?

Maybe the EXPS2 and EXPS3. They have a smaller battery compartment. But go put one in your hand first. They are not light. And they might get clumsy on a pistol. A better more compact pistol sight might be a Burris FastFire? That is my backup on my other AR, an optic only Remington VTR. I’ve got the Burris on a 45 rail for a close up backup sight that I can get onto with a flick of my wrist.

I would stay away from the weird battery ones and stick with those that take CR123s or AA.

I have a 512, 552 and a 553. If I was to buy right now, I'd pay the extra price for an EXPS2-0 since it has the co-witness riser base already included.

Sure thing. Also bigdaddy was correct they did have the thermal drift issue and they did have to pay damages. The sights only had issues themselves at very wide temperature extremes and the large majority of civilian uses would have never seen a problem. And regardless the current sights have been corrected too.

But they did do it. I think they also responded admirably once it came out. They shouldn’t have done it but they owned it. I have no issue buying them and they do their job very very well. Enjoy.

GV...what with your fixation on "gifts" and paying it forward here recently, I thought you might enjoy this tale:

You have been an invaluable source of info and advice to me. Thanks to you, I took a clunky old Colt AR-15A3, and turned it into a very solid patrol / home defense rifle. A lot of effort went into that. I also bought a buttload of ammo in various loads, until you dialed me in on the 55gr FMJBT/ 62 gr JSP loads.

So today we're working yard maintenance at our church, and the on-duty S.O. Sergeant, who used to work for me, stops by to chat. When we get to the obligatory gun chat, I ask him what he's carrying in his rifle. And it's 55gr FMJBT. So I treat him to a few mags full of the 62gr JSP. I can easily replace it, and I know what patrol deputies..even Sergeants...make.

Gift. Payed forward. Figured you would approve.

EDIT: You realize that I will continue to poke the bear here. It's my nature.

You don’t like the aimpoint? The two you normally hear are eotech and aimpoint for HWSs

I guess an aimpoint isn’t technically a HWS it’s a projected LED but similar stuff, no spot downrange and parallax free.

I've assembled mine from the ground up. I've got a 16" 300 B/O. A 20" wylde SS spiral fluted with a Vortex. I've got a 6.2SPC with a 16" barrel. A SBR with two 8" uppers, 300B/O and a 556. A rock river arms with a carry handle upper. One more sort of standard flat top 556.

Well crap. Left off the Colt. I need to take a picture of the assembled Colt. Guess I’ll wait till I get the STS mag on it next month tho.
