The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Purchased another 308 lower for the SBR build. Been informed it's currently a minimum of 6 to 8 months. My first one and applying as individual.

There was a smoking deal on PSA for those a week or so ago. I almost pulled the trigger but didn't.
I saw that too. I don't keep up with firearm pricing unless I am looking to buy something, but even my untrained eye saw a great deal there.

Edit: I wish I would have taken a little more advantage of PSA's "plus 10 pmags" offers they were doing for a while. They must have had tons of them, because the deals were usually decent without considering the mags.

I've assembled a new upper for my SBR. I had a 8.5" in 300BO but my 556 was a little long. I ordered a tube type 4" pistol hand guard but they screwed up and sent a 12". My plan was to use a gas block with top and bottom rails for front sites. I'm not sure even a 4" handguard would fit inside the gas block. I went ahead a cut down an old quad rail to the proper length until I get the tube guard. I'll probably have to cut it down too.

Just got through shooting it and it operated beautifully. It's so fun to shoot.

I went and took an Intro to IDPA class last night. Basically 1hr of class room work on safety, rules, and going over procedural errors. Then running through 2 courses of fire. It was a blast. I did better than I expected. On an 8 target 3 position CoF I only scored 4 down, and no penalties on the first go round. I didn't do quite as well on the 2nd CoF though. It was mostly the same as the first only in reverse, and started facing up range and having to turn/draw. I got a penalty on that one because I stepped over the line for "cover" as I turned and didn't realise it before shooting, and on the very last target of the CoF I shot "granny". The old hag was standing between me and the bad guy. I got 1 round in the bad guys 0, but the 2nd went into her shoulder. I'm sure she deserved it for some reason though. Lol. I can't wait to go shoot a full event.

Good work. Perp should've picked a better human shield.

Enjoy the adventure. IDPA can be a blast if you get with a good group of guys. Great place to start in action pistol events. Did you shoot the qualifier yet?

They seem to be a good group. The 4 people from the club that were giving the class were very friendly and helpful. They have pretty regular matches, both open and private club matches. I haven't done a qualifier yet, they only do them every so often, but they said until they have one I can shoot in an unqualified class. Or something like that.

Looking at purchasing an eotech. Any suggestions concerning models? I have an opportunity to purchase one at 1/2 off retail.

No personal experience / opinion, but maybe look on AR15.com. Lots of info there, you just have to figure out who to listen to (like here).

I ended up with an Aimpoint PRO, and I'm very pleased with it. I think it's mostly a matter of personal preference.

Hard to pass that deal up.

Love 'em. Any and all.

I would stay away from the weird battery ones and stick with those that take CR123s or AA.

I have a 512, 552 and a 553. If I was to buy right now, I'd pay the extra price for an EXPS2-0 since it has the co-witness riser base already included.

I have the EXPS-2 on my colt 6920. Will be pairing it with the G33 STS mag for my b-day.

Have you ever shot a holographic weapon sight? I prefer them to target projected red dots. I can easily shoot with both eyes open and really like the reticle. The EXPS-2 co witnesses lower third with the iron sights.

The only difference I can find in the EXPS-2 and -3 is the NVG compatibility. Just didn’t matter to me.
