Well, JG was written off as being terrible after an average first practice. I guess since he had a great one today we should overreact the opposite direction and say he’s gonna win the Heisman

Once again, you’re REALLY comparing Cam Newton and Chad Kelly to KELLER CHRYST?

It’s not about comparing players. It’s what happens when people recruit juco/grad transfers. They want to go to places they can play right away.

But some guys, like cam Newton, have more leverage than others. Chryst didn’t have guys beating down his door. He was in no position to demand anything more than a fair chance, which is what HE said Pruitt promised him. An open competition.

Amen. VolHillBilly will just stick with what’s been working for him...for one practice. :)

Do you really think any player is ever going to say anything but that? Even if it did or did happen no player is gonna say “they told me I’d be the starter from day 1”

Highly sought juco’s? Yes. Auburn forked out six figures for Cam Newton. Kelly was the top juco when Ole Miss’s starter Bo Wallace graduated. We’ve already done Russell Wilson. Who else put the heavy sell on CHRYST? You backtracked and stated “good chance” before but realized that you had let the rope slip and your narrative was floating away. :wavey:

I don’t believe they promised him that. He didn’t have to say anything at all, but he said they told him it would be an open competition. Are you saying he was being dishonest?

So he’s a habitual liar too? My god! What has been unleashed on our poor battered fanbase? :scare:

You are missing the entire point to try to fit your narrative that college football is this honest pure competition with no recruiting strategies and promised that don’t get filled. That may work in middle school but not how D1 athletics work.

He’s a backup QB who wants a chance to start. Knows he ain’t doing it at Stanford and is using a graduate transfer exception to take a stab. No schools fueled up private jets to court him...who even finished second? It’s not middle school but it’s 180 degrees from how complicated you’ve made it!

You don’t go after a one year rental for depth

When your OL is as bad as ours and you need desperately to make a bowl game, you might.

We’re probably gonna end up starting more than 1 QB this year, even if JG or Chryst is good enough to secure the starting job relatively quickly.

Chryst is built to take a beating, luckily.

Or he could find a real coaching job in another conference. He chose to stay in the SEC and become an intern with UT's biggest rival while on UT's payroll. His choices make him fair game and he deserves whatever he gets from whomever cares to dish it out.

It appears to me that he does not appreciate anything Tennessee and its fans have done for him. It sounds like he is bitter about being fired and now he is going to do whatever he can to stick it to us.

I still don’t see how he’s “sticking it to us”. The consensus on him as a football mind isn’t very flattering. How does he ADD anything to Bama?

I agree, don’t see how he brings anything to the table that could ever be considered an edge. Aren’t Saban and Jones both managed by the same agent? Saban could be banking a favor.

Also, I spent like five minutes trying to figure out what ADD was an abbreviation for until I realized it was the add, but with emphasis.😐

I EMPHASIZE. :aggressive:

Fwiw i don’t have a problem with Butch being at bama in his role. It’s a win win for him. Get to see up close the best program in football. So he gets to learn. He also gets to have more time to build a potential staff and contacts for his next gig. It could’ve have just boiled down to he didn’t like the jobs he was offered.

Exactly

It just at so happens to be Bama who is the dynasty. I’ve got no seconds in my day to schedule for Butch handwringing
