More importantly, I think the winner of the SEC gets a 2 seed and in the Atlanta region since the committee won’t put an ACC team there since UVA is the 1. Winning the SECT would be huge

And I think that is still a possibility even w a loss at MSU tomorrow

That would be the best case, UT goes to Nashville and then Atlanta

Obviously that’s the big question...I think any loss would probably do it, JMO

As the 1 seed, Cincy is almost a lock to make the final. A win there obv keeps them ahead. If Houston/Wichita St were to beat them I think that team would make the jump

Of the plausible outcomes, I think the hope is that Houston loses at SMU, WSU beats Cincy, then Houston wins the conference tournament

Worst case is Cincy beats WSU, then WSU wins the conference Tourney

Does anyone get the sneaking suspicion that the committee will come out and seed us in a way that makes no sense about how they have communicated seeding would take place all year long?

Like, Lunardi and all of us have them as a 3 and we
come in as like, the last 4 or something

If the committee stuck to what they’ve previously communicated, MSU would be a 3 seed. But I have a feeling that won’t be the case.

So recent matrix update lines up with what you’re saying...

Virginia, Villanova, Xavier, Kansas, Duke and North Carolina are 1-6 on the seed list and probable not catchable.

From there...Purdue, Michigan State, Auburn, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Wichita State, Clemson, West Virginia 7-15.

Tennessee needs to pass two of those teams ahead of them to get into Nashville, OR if Wichita was to take Cincinnati’s spot that would mean we only need to pass one of those teams because Wichita wouldn’t take a favorable location away from us like Cincinnati would. To me that is an interesting dynamic that hasn’t been discussed.

Who do we pull for TT or WV?

I think you have to pull for West Virginia, I don’t think that win vaults them ahead of us, especially since it’s at home...conversely if Texas Tech was to win it that would be a big road win which the committee seemingly adores.

Ok. Thanks. Damn if USCe had held on in the challenge it would have helped

We should be rooting like hell for Wichita State imo...sure they may pass us on the seed list, but would much rather have them ahead of us instead of Cincinnati, here’s why...

Seed list per bracket matrix, replacing Cincinnati current spot with *Wichita State*:

Virginia- Charlotte
Villanova- Pitt
Xavier- Detroit
Kansas- Wichita
Duke- Charlotte
North Carolina- Pittsburgh
Purdue- Detroit
Michigan State- Nashville
Auburn- Nashville
*Wichita State*- Wichita
Tennessee- Dallas
Texas Tech- Dallas

If it shakes out this way Tennessee only needs to pass 1 of Auburn/Michigan State/Purdue in order to get Nashville...if Cincinnati is in the picture and not Wichita State then Tennessee has to pass 2 of those teams listed.

Maybe I am ignorant but why woudnt Xavier go to Pitt and Mich state to Detroit?

I think it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't. Because if WSU wins, they get the 1 seed in the American, and Cincy would get the 2 seed. Cincy then gets an opportunity for 2 more Q1 wins - Houston in the semis and WSU in the final. Even if they only beat Houston it could be enough to save their spot above us on the seed line. If Cincy wins out, and we win 2 more, I think our spot on the 3 line is pretty solid. And based on the scenario above there's a chance that both WSU and Cincy could move above us.

I think I'd rather just see Cincy win out thereby knocking WSU down. That way, if we win the SECT we're jumping Cincy anyway, but if we don't - and even maybe bounced early, then it's a softer landing because we'd still likely be above WSU

Am I wrong but under the current system, don't they try if at all possible to keep higher seeds closer to home in the first and second round? This has been going on a few years now, so why won't we be in Nashville as long as we keep a 4 seed or below? We were sent to Raleigh last time, and many times under Pearl close to home. So why Dallas or Boise? I think we're gonna be in Nashville or Charlotte.

Teams seeded higher than us get priority
