The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Put 150 rds through my Glock yesterday. It performed much better. Still had a few times where I had a failure to feed due it trying to double feed. Def way less than the 1st time out with it. Range Marshall seemed to think it's from stiff springs in the new magazines. Also ran another 100 rds through my other 2. I get the feeling that the range is going to become addictive and expensive...

Buy another mag and see if it fixes the issue. If it doesn’t, send it back to Glock. It should not malfunction like that. Glocks do not need a “break in period” if it doesn’t run out of the box, send it back.

I bought a glock 19 recently, now my wife had the problem of it jamming. But once I told her keep her wrist firm, she did fine. This was the first time shooting the this gun. After about 100 rounds I guess she was a little tired. Jammed twice more on her. Hoping after another couple hundred rounds through the gun , it'll be better.

Also I would recommend Taran tacticle base pads. It gives the mag a little extra weight, and adds a 2 round capacity. Can get em any color, and they look pretty sweet too.

I picked up a few of these boxes. They are a life saver. I no longer have mags everywhere around the house. They make them for single stack mags, any double stack pistol mag, AR mags, even .308 mags. Worth every penny.

Nice, but I'm guessing you can make these yourself for almost any mags with a standard ammo can and foam you can buy at any craft store (e.g. - Michael's).

Jam up idea for those (like me) who like to have loaded mags on standby.

I'm probably gonna make up a couple of these for my .45's and my AR. Great idea. Thanks.

I’m looking to buy a 9mm once I get my bonus check from work. Price range is $600 max. Suggestions?

Eventually I want a 1911 but not really trying to spend that type of money yet

Glock 19 Imo. You'll end up with several suggestions on this though.

I’m really learning the difference in all right now so taking all suggestions

Are you trying to carry or just have for shooting at the range/home defense?

There's a lot of variables to consider in order to really narrow a suggestion. Thumb safety, no thumb safety?

What Yankee and SLICKY said. GV will probably have an idea, and I'd listen.

If your heart is set on a 1911 (and let's face it, who's isn't?), then maybe think about a used one at a reputable pawn shop or gun store in your area. I tripped over a very lightly used Springfield Range Officer model back before Christmas. Came with all of the original SA stuff and case, plus grips, mags and even a wooden presentation case the the original owner had picked up. OTD for $500. I giggled all the way home, and had to change my underwear after I shot it (okay, TMI...sorry).

Either way, you can't go wrong if you get what you want, and it does what you want it to do.

Happy Hunting.

I like my Taurus PT 111. Bought it new for around 250.

Here you go. Even had the G10 grips that come with it.

Rock Island 51623 Rock Ultra FS Single 9mm Luger 5 9+1 Gray G10 Grip Black Par $582.00

Don't let the price fool you. Rock Islands are dang good pistols for the price.

I have the RIA compact .45, and I'll echo what GV said. Solid gun. Shoots well, not one FTF yet, and that heavy frame absorbs a lot of the recoil. My only gripe is the GI-style sights (I have a circa 2007 model), which I am in the process of addressing.

Well I took the Shield out to the range for some "get to know ya" time. I put 100 rounds through it today and have come to the conclusion: the gun performs better than I do. I shot it out to 10 yards, both slow and rapid, and two handed & weak/strong. It grouped wonderfully, and was dang accurate right outta the box. Every single one of the misses was on me and I knew I did it when it happened. Either rushing a shot, jerking trigger, or other user error. I love the gun. The one thing I did pick up on is that I'm going to have to spend more time to practice drawing it. After all the years of using that G21 moving to the small narrow grip of the Shield is taking some getting used to.
