The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Any recommendations for how to concealed carry? Maybe thoughts on some of the undershirts I’ve seen with built in holsters or anything else you guys like?

I'm an "appendix carry" advocate, which means my gun is in the 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock area (I'm right-handed). I'm 5-11 / 180, and according to wife, friends, and a mirror I don't print at all even with just a t-shirt over my jeans. I usually tuck the t-shirt in, and wear a Columbia or such short-sleeve shirt over it to prevent "gun on skin" contact, but even then just wipe your gun down at the end of the day and you're good to go.

Lots of good holsters out there. Matter of what you prefer. Right now, AlienGear seems to be the hot brand.

I always tell the "cool guys" who have their gun on their back hip, or at their 6 o'clock that it's going to suck when someone comes up behind them in line at the grocery store; takes their gun; and kills them with it.

If you do basic research online from legitimate self-defense and CCW sites, that should help you make a wise choice.

Good Luck.

Go and find yourself a pistol. Go to a range that rents pistols and try a few that you think feel good to you. Buy a standard outside the waistband holster by galco or safariland or bladetech and sign up for a ccw class that is local to you. Generally the local classes will be very rudimentary as a whole. If you find that carrying a pistol for self protection is for you, go to thunder ranch or gunsite, as those folks will square you away and build upon the good fundamentals you’ve already established.

SGAmmo

Ammo2Go

Palmetto State Armory

AIM Surplus

J&G Sales

Wideners

Midway

Are all sites I've used for bulk purchases over the years with reasonable prices and decent shipping.

I steer clear of Cheaper than Dirt since those greedy ****s tend to jack prices as soon as they can whenever there is a shooting in the news. But it's out there.

I'd steer clear of anything reloaded you find at a gun show. Generally:

Federal
Winchester
Prvi Partizan
Sellier and Bellot
Magtech
Any Russian animal brand steel cased
Wolf brass cased
CCI (though some of their brass cased I got once wasn't crimped and I had major bullet setback issues)
PMC
Speer
Tula...can be okay, but loads light from time to time
Independence
Remington
Hornady
Fiocchi
Geco
Armscor
IMI

Are good and trusted brands that shouldn't give you problems. Be wary, again, of any reloads from a non-reputable manufacturer.

Thank you sir. Placed an order with SGAmmo yesterday. 400 rds of 9mm 300 rds of .380. Locally it's hard to find .380 brass for less than $16 a box. 11.95 online. 9mm was about the same as local big box stores, but tax free. Will def purchase more next time. Just tested the waters with this purchase.

I hope u don't pull a Plaxico burress..lol

They should not in any state since it's technically protected medical information.

Yeah, that sounds right. Only thing I can think that might affect that is if police were involved and somehow the person was charged with something.

I thought since attempted suicides are sent to a facility after hospitalization they'd be reported. I guess not.

Well, I'm not sure how I feel about that now....

I've owned rifles and shotguns and hunted most of my life, but I've never carried a handgun. However, with how times have gotten I've started looking at a gun for concealed carry. I went straight to a Glock 43 and Glock 19. I've researched and held them both, even shot the 19. I am 6' 2" and 180 lbs, so I am concerned on how I can conceal the 19, but then the capacity of the 43 concerns me with only 6+1. Anybody have advice or have owned both?

Look at the Glock 26, it's the double stack version of the G43

Don't be surprised if you have a shipping notification by noon on Monday.

Well I've bit the bullet and got my new carry piece thanks to my loving wife. As much as I wanted to stick with a .45, after considering y'alls advice, advice from other friends, budget, and handling several options I decided on a Smith & Wesson M&P shield in 9mm. My wife surprised me with it for Valentine's day. Now comes the fun part of putting many many rounds through it to "experiment" with what it likes.

I have a 26 and while it's smaller than the 17 and 19 the double stack still makes it thick. I have two mags, 10 & 15 rounds so having enough bullets isn't a problem. That said I went with the 26 because it was a dual purpose carry and home defense weapon. If I was going exclusively carry I'd get the 43. JMHO

That’s why you should have more guns, duh. 😬

While killing time today I stopped by my local firearm dealer and ordered a Sig Sauer P320 carry model caliber .357 sig. Anyone have experience with this model? I've researched it as much as I could and am well aware of the issues that generated the recall on them. I'm mainly looking for the positives or negatives not pertaining to the recall.
