Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Tax dollars. I would sacrifice $0.02 a paycheck in order to pay for making high schools safer. I have no problem with that considering it would be real steps taken in order to protect campuses.

Grassley-Cruz bill was on the table that would have added $300 million for school safety. Pass that and allocate the money properly.

How many schools are in our country?

Put up a fence around campus with one way in and one way out. Have armed deputies at the entrance and persons/vehicles are subject to search upon entry

Unfortunately there is a fence around the school. The kid wore a shirt students wear and was able to walk into the senior parking lot with ease. I believe this happened right before school let out at 2:30 . The gates would have been open to let the cars leave.

I agree on beefed up security , just trying to answer questions on how and why things are the way they are currently at that school.

How about you have no idea what you're talking about.

And furthermore, I know you love the idea of free killing zones like schools, but drastic times, drastic measures.

PUT MORE THAN A SINGLE ****ING COP ON A CAMPUS OF 3,500 STUDENTS!

The more you fight that, the more blood is on YOUR hands, schmuck.

You could show them how you clean your guns with your tally wacker and that should help.

My county? Believe we have 18 public high schools.

Also have to consider most schools are not open air campuses (at least not down here). We have 2, all the rest are buildings where you could limit who enters/exits the building through 1 exit like what I originally said. So those ones obviously wouldn’t need said fencing.

Edit: just looked and we have 14 public high schools

Gotcha. I’m not trying to say my thoughts are perfect or anything just thinking out loud instead of just yelling at each other about guns.

Appreciate the insight into the school and the ins and outs though. All schools are different so each would present a unique challenge I would think.

I was just thinking “we don’t have enough people in prison. How can we add more”

But if you think life in prison will deter people who know they’re very likely to either die in a fire fight, the electric chair, or who intend to take their own life at the end anyway....then you’re actually not thinking at all.

Let drug offenders out. I said any gun crime. Not just some dumbass with a death wish that goes on a shooting spree. Mass shooting are a very small percentage. If dumbass people can't even agree on some common sense gun control then you have to make the penalty so steep that most people won't just start shooting.

Same here and no worries. My childhood home was zoned for Douglas but I ended up going to a smaller charter school for high school, but my brother attended before moving up to Aloca. Other than my college years this area is my home, and it has been a terrible dark cloud over our citizens the last few days.

Most mass shooters kill themselves. That's a pretty steep penalty.

I agree. I don’t get how the common sense language making up the 2nd Amendment is so often misunderstood.

Here’s an idea, firmly grasp the firearm with both hands, as to maintain control over the gun.

How’s that for gun control?

Ok LG. You’re a hack. You’re not interested in debate you just want drive by emotional responses. Go join Luther and welcome to the facist agenda.

And I’ll take your lack of a reply on the deer rifle vs AR question as a yes the outcome would have been the same. Thus no need to ban ARs needlessly again.

I'll give you a few more openings to take some "shots."

How many times could you fire a traditional or typical deer rifle in a minute? When used for hunting, how many shots would you need to get off in a minute?

How many shots were fired in the FL school massacre and over how many minutes?

The point you are obviously making is that the deer rifle would have been just as deadly as the AR15 therefore the AR15 should not be banned. What your point says to me is that maybe what we are classifying as a "deer" rifle may need to be looked into.

Again, what would be a "reasonable" number of rounds for a deer rifle to fire per minute? (for normal hunting purposes)

That was your agenda all along plus I already pointed out to you several times in this thread that your average deer rifle was probably more lethal than the damn gun you are harping on. Plus as several have pointed out if you want to focus on ROF just use a damn pistol. Pick the mag depth of your choice don’t care. Takes me about 3 seconds to reload and recharge!

You go find your own reasonable ROF. It’s your burden to prove. But in the end you don’t want assault weapons you want ALL weapons.

2 cents a paycheck is one dollar per year per taxpayer if you are paid weekly. I'm not sure how far that would go in my county. We probably have 20,000 taxpayers and 20 schools, counting all elementary, middle and 5 high schools. That is $1,000 per year, per school.

Are all your schools open air that would need a fence of some sort?

I know in our county we only have 2 that would fall under that category. I didn’t think through the exact numbers on how it would work out but I’m sure it would be a different cost per county. Also the good thing about this is it’s a one time deal. It’s not a yearly increase or anything, once the extra protection is put in the tax goes away. I’m sure some people would love to donate to that cause as well. Heck, make it a tax write off and I bet you’d get more than you even needed.

Like I said I’m just thinking out loud. No idea if it would be feasible for all districts to do but trying to think of something that is reasonable, would not take away people’s rights, and would have some success. I think we all want the same thing here and there has to be common ground somewhere.

Why did you crop out the rest of the photo?

Wow! Just when I thought that LG couldn't stoop any lower. He tried to make it look like Trump was thrilled about the shootings. If Obama's crying picture wasn't cropped, it would probably show Reggie Love leaving him for another man.

I’ll just drop this here. It’s been eluded to but here’s the actual chart. Shockingly the AR platform isn’t a driver!!

Oh well I fail again it’s total homicide rate from 1976 to 2004. Each dot on the graph is a year tic. The big handgun hump is ‘87 to ‘99 I believe.

It doesn't matter to them. They can't drive emotion or fear with facts.

That makes it better?

Shake their hands, join in a minute of prayer. Stay somber.

They did a great job and God bless them.

But it's not a freaking party.

You mean someone has doctored a picture to to give a bias slant to a meme. Unheard of!!!!!

There are 20 slanted propagandized right wing memes (five of which created in Russia) for every left wing meme.

But it's good you guys see how ignorant and stupid they are. Who would ever fall for that kind of crap? Oh, wait a minute, I know.

Lol.

Ever seen a shotgun?

Ever seen a 10 gauge shotgun?

Ever seen 10 gauge shot?

Ever seen a duckbill choke?

Might as well be shooting a mini claymore..

To be honest that kid could have devastated that school using what I mentioned above instead of an AR-15..and will way less ammo.
