Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

Dollars to doughnuts that at some point Trump implies that this failure by the FBI in some way supports his criticism of the agency and its investigation of him.

I mean... this is quite the oversight. 17 lives are gone because of it. Let's not diminish any criticism of the fbi because of partisan politics.

I bet I could put 20 rounds in a “center of mass” area in a minute. Like in the Vegas shooting.

20 distributed targets where I would have to assess a new sightline aim and shoot? No. But I would struggle doing that with a semi auto too.

The action of recharging a round on a well setup rifle is really not that disturbing to the shooter. Or recharging the magazine.
I target shoot with a bolt action most of the time. I'm sure you can hit the same target 20 times if it's big enough.

That is such a tired, overused, and juvenile argument'

The rebuttal is so obvious, I can't bring myself to make it.

when the dude broke the law of premeditated murder 17 times, attempted murder who knows how many times at this point, illegal possession of a firearm on school premises and I'd be curious to know if he broke any laws in the purchase of the firearm from a form perspective(this may have been released already, not sure). Yeah lets tack on purchase of an illegal firearm and that would have made him second guess all of it.

Oh come on Luther...I, and I'm sure several others, have never heard a solidly made defenseable argument for how criminals will not be able to get guns just like law abiding citizens who won't break the law to get one.

Do it Luther. Take your time and give it your best shot. Otherwise, you're just a ballon full of hot air ready for anyone on the thread to prick and we all get to watch the pop.

If you are not trying to do any of that why do you want to further limit what I can buy, how much I can buy and who I can buy from?

To reduce the proliferation of guns in this country, to reduce the number of guns finding their way into the hands of criminals, to reduce the amount of crime and carnage in which guns are the "tool" of choice, to limit the availability of certain types of weapons, and to generally make the country a better and safer place for my children and their children.

No one will make that argument because no one is idiotic enough to believe that we will keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

What reasonable people know and understand is that we can lessen the number and types of guns that are getting into the hands of criminals. That is an outcome that REASONABLE people support.

Your understanding of criminals is adolescent.

It’s also impossible to do. How’s your war on drugs going?

A major problem with this line of reasoning is that most of these mass shooter scenarios play out with shooters that were not criminals before their shooting spree.

We can reasonably agree that convicted criminals (at least felony criminals) should not have access to guns, but preemptive actions against law abiding citizens that aren't criminals "yet" is trickier.

Just like the people who want drugs, those who want guns will always find a seller.

So I think we are agreeing? The action type isn’t the driver in down range accuracy?

Again if the targets are spread out enough I can’t do that with a semi auto either. But in a situation like Vegas you have 3 seconds to sight, shoot, cycle. I honsftly think that’s plenty of time.
