The shut down thread

So Trump said he'd sign whatever the group came up with. They had a plan. He said ok. He invited them back hours later and he rescinded the deal.

McConnell says they'd like to pass something ... if they knew what Trump would support.

Graham says on the floor tonight, please tell us what will work. We can't read your mind.

This is where we are when you elect a know-nothing to high office. And my favorite part is when they say it's the Dems' fault. That's hilarious right there.

The meeting was preceded by a cheeseburger lunch (trump's favorite) , Ronald McDonald should have given him better advice.

I wonder if the polls saying 9/10 people suport DACA are the same polls that said Hillary would win the election

The same propaganda machine fed and is feeding both agendas, so no reason to think they aren't using the same pollsters.

Here's the key issue. Our political system has become increasingly polarized going back to the Clinton years. Politicians no longer seek compromise. They don't even really try. It's all about smearing the other side in order to try and grab more power the next go around. Neither the republicans nor the democrats will budge, because they have midterms coming up and are looking to solidify or shift the power balance, respectively. Both parties try and ram as much poorly thought out, incomplete, irresponsible garbage while they have the balance in their favor, and when the balance swings the other way, they obstruct. In the Obama years, it was the democrats rushing healthcare reform and such with the republicans taking the role of obstructionist. Now, it's the opposite. It wasn't right then, and it isn't right now. The fact is that neither party is truly serving the American people. We're the ones getting screwed, while they ask us to thank them, to donate more money to their campaigns. Sadly, the power elite have convinced us that there are only these two perverted choices. This two party system needs to die. That's the real problem.

You just really can't expect much from weak minds, but we continue to send foolish narcissists to DC and somehow expect better things to happen. Fixing the mess all starts with campaign finance reform - with the major emphasis on a lot less campaign cash - and that only from individuals who actually can vote.

I voted for Lamar Alexander in '78.

I'm happy enough here, as I guess you are. I'm especially fond of our interstate system and all of the beautiful national and state parks I get to visit. I love the educational experiences of those visits and building on the public education I received.

Amazing that your side hasn't started a rumor that the interstates - like national parks - will shut down if there is a shutdown. Oh, and the Russians will run rampant because the FBI will be out of business, too.

Ehh, would that be better or worse than using children and military families as pawns like McConnell is actually doing?

Won't someone think of the children?

How is McConnell using military families as pawns?

They are still getting paid. Don't fall for the Occupy Democrat Facebook Memes.

According to Trump's many comments during the 2013 shutdown, it is all on the president and is a result of his inability to lead.

This is just another obstruction from the DemoncRats. That’s what they do.

I hear Cryin Chuck is installing opioids and pension in there now, is that true?

I'm going with Trump on this one. As he said in 2013, it's all on the president and his failure to lead. (Never say I don't occasionally agree with Trump)
