Recruiting Discussion

I look dumb because I don't know the scholarship breakdown for each school??? Do you know them? Maybe you should share.

You suggested it was common practice yet you can’t name a single instance, and neither can I...must not be all that common, this isn’t football.

I asked about Simons.
Here was your reply....

Official visit.

Nc State, Florida, UCLA and South Carolina are main competition for him at this time...but that could change very quickly depending on how long his recruitment grows. If he remains uncommitted I could see a lot of bigger schools getting involved as they figure out their scholarship situations.

How many spots do those teams above have available at this time?

NC State, Florida, UCLA, South Carolina

Any of those teams full? How can they be our competition if they are full?

Simmons to florida unless I misread your post

Yea you misread it, it makes sense to me but I can reword it if you think I should?

I was stating that Florida coaches haven’t been to many of Simons games lately and therefore many Gator fans are saying that they are passing on him because they are currently full.

The only OV Simons has scheduled right now is Tennessee...so yes Florida is currently full and they haven’t scheduled an OV yet with Simons. I wouldn’t be shocked if they did because they’ve got a potential pro or 2 on their roster, and they may have a transfer, but as of now they have not.

That was a quote from an article.

How many of those schools have scheduled OV’s with Simons? UCLA, South Carolina and Nc State all have room for him so.....

Thanks for playing.

Thanks for clearing that up. We know Barnes isn't afraid to put the pressure on guys after visits so I assume that happens here.
We neee to wrap him up in a few weeks or it's time to move on to moore if we aren't going to go after both

Agree completely. Can’t let Simons hold you hostage for 2 months if Moore is legitimately interested.

Bottom line is that we are gonna have enough room for both in the end. I can't recall the last year we didn't see some attrition. Someone will leave.

Just stated that IMO is that Barnes should go after both.

So Florida isn't recruiting Simons? I didn't realize that.

From what I have gathered not actively no...they haven’t scheduled an OV and Mike White hasn’t been to see him in months. Again, if a player on their roster makes it known they intend to transfer or turn pro, maybe that changes things...just like at UT.

As I said...Khavon Moore wanted to be a Gator in the fall, UF already had 3 guys committed and they let him know he’d have to hold off...great recent example of a team electing not to oversign.

I understand exactly what you’re saying, but that’s just not how most of CBB operates...again CBB is different from CFB.

Again I think you would be hard pressed to find many examples of teams who are currently oversigned, obviously teams like UK might because they kind of have to, but it’s definitely not the norm.

I don't know how good the Moore kid is but if I think he can help me win then I make room if it is warranted. Someone will end up leaving. It always happens.

Again I get what you’re saying, it just now how most in CBB operate. They may choose to do that in the spring, but they won’t do it in January with half the season left.

3 good offers for jitoboh but no ranking. What’s up with that?

Just don’t think anyone has really saw him, I seem to recall Meyer making mention to him not yet being evaluated...will be interesting to see what he does in AAU this year. Would seem like Vols are in pretty good shape with him at the moment, but I’m sure they’d like to see how he has developed.

Thru 12 games, he's only averaging 6.8 pts and 7 rebs for Hamilton Heights.

6’10” and averaging 7 points in high school. Sounds like Derek Reese.

He’s got better offers than Reese though even if he only has a few. I wonder if they are legit. Can’t teach 6’10” 270 I guess.

Obviously HHCA isn’t your typical school, they’re stocked full of D1 talent, so I wouldn’t take those numbers the same as if he were playing his high school ball at Grainger County High School. With that said, definitely something to watch...DJ Burns who is high on the Vols is a somewhat similar player with a similar build although a couple inches shorter, so I do wonder if Tennessee would take both...and there’s not much doubt Burns is higher on the Vols wish list.

Production wise, they're similar I guess, but that's definitely where the comparison stops. Physically and skill-wise, they are completely different.

Jitoboh does not hardly step out of the paint (as he shouldn't), seems very heavy-footed, lacks many post moves. He blocks shots and rebounds pretty well, which may be a symptom of his size vs high school players.

Overall, not a very impressive prospect based on video I've seen, but as you said, you can't teach that size.

Updated 2019 rivals rankings, Tennessee targets...

13- Jalen Lecque
18- Josiah James
