I'm just going by memory, but I thought the only 5 stars since Pearl were Hopson, Harris, Stokes and Hubbs. Of course, I've been wrong before, but rarely.
Maybe, I'm thinking of consensus 5 stars
We could probably throw in NBA franchises like the Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings here, seeing that Simons could opt for the draft in June. But since we believe that he will play in college next year, Tennessee is the program that needs him the most. Along with UT, South Carolina, Florida, N.C. State and UCLA are the programs primarily involved, but if Rick Barnes wants to take his program from middle-of-the-pack SEC into the argument for darkhorse Final Four candidacy, he needs to land an alpha dog, and that someone could be Simons. The Vols have cultivated underappreciated prospects into quality college producers already, but if they want to take that next leap, then someone of Simons stature becomes a must.
an abundance of numerals.James, according to the 247Sports composite, is the No. 51 overall player in the 2019 class, the No. 12 small forward and No. 3 overall in South Carolina. Per 247Sports ratings, James is No. 73 overall, No. 4 in South Carolina and No. 20 at small forward.
Report: Vols have 'prioritized' four-star small forward in 2019

I am more a football guy so can someone help me here? Simons is a PG. Our real needs for a real impact come at pretty much any position except 1 and 3. Our Weaknesses are at 4/5 Size and 2 (pure shooter). 2 imo is less of a worry as we kinda sorta have that covered. We need a 6'10" plus big body. Heck not just one but a couple.
Should we recruit Simons and salivate if he signs, heck yes. But he will not change the program. We will still get dominated on the boards, down low. IMO, Bone has us set at PG for the next couple years. Pf course sign another PG this class and the best we can get. My point is that our main needs are down low. In the above ist Moses and Jordan Brown are a lot more interesting prospects than Simon based strictly on need. No way we get either but they, are in my eyes, much more exciting targets.
This kid is visiting this weekend right? OV or UOV?
Who are we battling for him and who is the leader?
Official visit.
Nc State, Florida, UCLA and South Carolina are main competition for him at this time...but that could change very quickly depending on how long his recruitment grows. If he remains uncommitted I could see a lot of bigger schools getting involved as they figure out their scholarship situations.
