Probably too early to call, but does anyone see Grant making 1st team All-SEC?

I'd say most definitely at this point. Still half a season to go, but right now, he might be in the running for SEC POY along with Maten, Chiozza, Davis, Waters.

Adding Tremont Waters to this list as well. His team may not be successful enough to warrant him enough votes for POY, but he currently leads the league in assists (6.1 apg) and steals (2.3), he's 5th in scoring (16.8 ppg), shoots 42% from 3, 79% from FT line.

a rich man's Jarnell Stokes. I think Corliss Williamson is an appropriate comparison, although Williamson may have been a slightly better rebounder/defender and Williams a better shooter/scorer.

Add Colin Sexton to that

Yeah, I almost did, but I wonder if he's starting to maybe hit that wall. Last 5 games, he is shooting 42% overall (not terrible), but 26.6% from 3. Only 16 assists to 12 TOs. It seems early to say that, and it may just be a rough little stretch, but he isn't dominating like he had been. He had another rough game last night. Not sure how good his team is either, and POY usually goes to a member of one of the competing teams.

Great player for sure, and maybe should have stayed on my original list.

A man unlike many we've seen at UT.

I go back to the Wade Houston days and I could name a hand full of big time posts we've had like Hamer,Haislip,Slay,Tobias Harris,CJ Black, and Im sure Im forgetting a couple but Williams is every bit the ball player all of those guys were.

NBA potential wise Hamer,Haislip, and Harris have him beat.

Ok, time for some brutal honesty.

Grant is a great player. Better than good, he is truly great. That being said, he has no business even thinking about the NBA, and I would bet a million that he's aware of that. His size is the main reason, he just doesn't fit. It's obviously not impossible for him to make it at some point, but he'll have to be in the running for the Naismith award for him to even start thinking about getting drafted or picked up directly after UT.

Now with that said, he still has 2 more years here, so anything could happen. But let's be real, Grant is not an NBA player, and the fact that more than a couple of posters are talking about it AT THIS POINT is pretty ridiculous.

Don't get me wrong, it would be awesome if he proves me wrong, but as a PSA to tall the lurkers and casual bball fans: don't get your hopes up. Just being real, and I'm more of a sunshine pumper than not.

He'll need to elevate his skills on the perimeter. Dale Ellis did very well after turning to face the basket in the NBA.

Grant might be too much of a tweener to be effective playing defense in the NBA.

Not about numbers to me. It’s about your productivity and how important you are to your team. Give me grant over Maten any day of the week.

What?!?!? Productivity=numbers, and Maten leads the SEC in rebounds and is 2nd in points at 19.3 ppg. Next closes bulldog is averaging 10.1 ppg. I'd say Maten is pretty important. More so than Williams is to Tennessee.
