Kahlil declares for draft

I believe he sees the writing on the wall.....Pruitt and company was going to work his ass off and he simply decided if he was going to have to put in the work, he would go to the NFL and get paid for working his ass off.

This new staff will eliminate more current players or the players will eliminate themselves (see above) for lack of---work ethic, accountability, devotion, commitment, and responsibility.

Chuckle...You can’t be that stupid. Maybe he should embrace your work out regiment of sitting on the couch drinking beer and eating Cheetos...dumbass post of the week award.

And when the camera pans away, your special DVR stays focused on one player.

Unfortunately most fans don’t realize what interior linemen do unless they make a big play or f...k up. Most people have no clue that Khalil has been double teamed since he got here. He did his job. He’ll do well in the League.

Please direct me to the tape then.

You guys keep saying he got bulldozed and pushed back constantly yet have no games to direct me to.

I watched every Vols game last year except for the Vandy game. In almost every game I saw, he was stout. Especially early on in the game when he and the rest of the defense were fresh. Later on in games he might have been pushed back because of fatigue since our offense couldn't stay on the field.

But I saw a lot of good from Kahlil for most of the year. The most surprising aspect of his game was he got some good bull rushes up the middle on 3rd down that pressured the QB.

As I said many times in this thread already, you guys will be surprised by how high he's drafted. IMO 3rd round is very likely. And I'm sure once it happens, you guys will say it was his father that got him drafted.

Why dont you direct us to tapes where he dominated.

What? What makes you say that other than the fact Kahlil didn't put up big-time stats so that ignorant fans would know that he's playing well?

Kahlil is as good a NFL prospect in my eyes as Derek Barnett was last year. He'll be a solid starter for a long time in the NFL. You guys are seriously clueless about his ability and how good he was at Tennessee.

Never showed the dog in him. Because it wasnt there.

Sorry man..
He really needed to stay

You guys seriously know nothing about football. Here are Da'Ron Payne's stats at Alabama in 2017: Daron Payne College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

13 games played
47 total tackles
1 tackle for loss
1 sack

Compare that to Kahlil this past season: Reginald McKenzie Jr. College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com

11 games played
35 total tackles
3 tackles for loss
2 sacks

Da'Ron Payne is listed at 6'2" 308 lbs while Kahlil is listed at 6'3" 320 lbs.

You guys keep citing Kahlil's stats but don't even know that most 0 and 1-techniques don't put up big time stats. Da'Ron Payne is projected as a first round pick by many and his box score numbers are less than even KMac.

Now I'm not saying Kahlil is better than Payne. Based on what I've seen on tape, I would take Payne over Kahlil. But the gap is small. And if Payne is a first round prospect according to most. Then KMac is probably not far behind.

As I have stated many times over in this thread, you guys will be surprised by how highly the NFL will think of Kahlil and his skill set. He's incredibly athletic for a man his size. He showed tremendous promise this year as a pass rusher up the middle. I wouldn't be shocked if he finds his way into the 2nd round with a great combine. Right now I think 3rd round is his most likely landing spot. And his play in the NFL will exceed those 3rd round expectations.

You must watch more tape than the ncaa and nfl combined your dvr must be packed full. There are some good soaps out there to watch. You should delete a few games and try some shows.

You miss my point.

This is a surprise. Does anyone else find it odd that our "New" coach in his short tenure has managed to lure some great recruits yet unable to keep the current roster? Seems odd to me, maybe he's encouraging them...wants to start with a clean slate.

Per his Instagram post.

Big loss?

Big loss to himself. A healthy year under (hopefully) some coaches that know how to help players improve could really help his draft stock. As is, I think he goes late just based on bloodlines. Personally, I don't think he's ready. But hey, I'm not the player evaluation expert that D4H is, so what do I know?

Yes, that's sarcasm at the end.

No doubt he’s had the every position is open and hard work talk with them. Easier for some of them to bail and get paid for the hard work. I doubt it’s anything personal. From a player standpoint I get it. When you were 21 and worse case scenario you sit the bench for 400K a year you’d do it to.

seems like some of these guys are taking a big chance, I think they want out and if they see a glimmer of light there, they are gone...wont go very high if drafted at all

Comparing him to 3-4 NTs would be great if he played in the 3-4, but he didn't play in that system. Yes, I'm sure NFL scouts can project him into that role, but they have no tape of him playing the position. He's a project for the team that takes him. Can he be good? If he puts in the work, yes, but he's not a guarantee.

D4H, since you're so knowledgeable, what NFL team do you scout for? Surely that must be your profession, right? I mean, you apparently think you know more than most NFL scouts anyway.

New coach coming in, installing new offense and new defense, it's not uncommon for players who have the chance to leave for the league.

I don't know who is advising this kid, but he is certainly NOT ready for the NFL. If he does get drafted it because of his potential rather than his play. He has proven nothing to no one while at UT. He's feared by no one. I wish him luck in the NFL.

I know our defense was horrible. I know when I watched him he did nothing special. Like every now and then you see a splash play from someone that lets you know he’s special. He never did. Tuttle did but kmac didn’t.

A player leaving early should not go if you’re a late rounder. However, maybe daddy promised him he’d draft him by 4th round.

I’m not blaming kid, maybe he just didn’t want to deal with another defensive coaching change and new strength coach.

I would guess he has all the elements required and, with a year on the bench to heal, develop and learn, he will rise to the occasion. As opposed to learning new schemes from new coaches in college, he can do that in the NFL with a big check in his pocket. Makes sense to me. Go Vols!

He will not go very high at all. He has done nothing to speak of while at UT. I am not bashing the guy I like him but he didn't pan out like he should have, and that's prob alot on botch jones. But I really think it boils down to he knows Pruitt is gonna be tougher on players, and workouts and such and he is getting out while he can. No loss here.
