Normally I'm in the same boat but next year we will have a lot of talent that should be playing on a high level at the same time. The starters should improve a little but the main difference will be our bench, particular our forwards.

I think we could win the SEC next year. The start of conference play has shown this team is still isn't ready but is maturing.

Don't see how we would even have a shot at winning the SEC with Ky there and Auburn has a younger team than UT which will be further matured next yr. Ark also has a very good future ahead.

Agree 100%. This team is begging for a consistent scoring threat or threat of creating for others. And Simmons fits that bill.

But to add an opinion, it’s also begging for an offensive minded assistant to work with the current and future bigs. My opinion of CRB is right in the middle of the range we have here. But the lack of any inside O other than Grant, tells me we need help developing not just recruiting inside. Jmo

Might as well redshirt Pons and the big tall white guy unless they play in too many games. Do not see them playing much now in the SEC schedule!

I think the fact that we're not seeing Pons and Kent is an indicator that Barnes will try the med RS angle for them. Even if they're not injured, what difference does it make to the NCAA? If you only appear in 2 games out of 30+, I doubt the NCAA is going to deny a request for a med RS.

Obviously I could be wrong, just my take on it.

A preemptive "agree to disagree" from me to TGO.

I think that is possible especially for Kent but we would need to hear soon about an "injury". There has to be one at least on paper

TN needs a coach that's a skilled liar in order to fabricate an injury. And they better hurry up, the injury has to occur in the first half of the season.

Also, Barnes has had Pons and Kent participating in practices and workouts for the last 6 months or so. It's possible that he's not interested in seeking to get this year back. TN doesn't have to apply right now, but they need to have their proof collected.

The approval process is administered by the SEC. So not only does TN have to put their reputation on the line in order to make up an injury, the SEC has to be on board as well. The SEC actually has some more restrictive football recruiting rules than the other P-5s, so I'm not sure why they'd participate in a made up incapacitating injury scheme.

I'll just leave this here:

To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:

The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.

The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.
The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.

The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season.
