Much respect for CJP for finishing what he started.

Where is his commitment to Tennessee?

He is demonstrating where his loyalty lies and it is not with Tennessee.

Totally backassard way of looking at things... He committed to the players at beginning of year to see them through to a championship... hes honoring that commitment .... BEFORE he committed to Fulmer to take the Tennessee job he reiterated that commitment as a CONDITION of employment. That to me is INTEGRITY and something we should welcome from Coach Pruitt. I don't root for Bama but would really prefer to see our new coach win a natty over smart!!!!! GBO VFL!!!!!

NO, NO, NO ! This is VN. It's dilly, dilly. You're not from these parts are ye?

Yes I am!!!
But it is hard for me to Dilly, Dilly all the time yet.
Bully, Bully is more from my glory days, but I'm trying. Have "liked" and dilly, dillyed (I think, memory and pe--er are the same length and getting shorter all the time) in other threads.

How bout I use BULLY, DILLY??? Think this would work? At least until I get fully dilly dillyed???

Is he in his office in Knoxville implementing his goals, his metrics, philosophies, habits, etc?

If Not, you're sitting still

you don't have to be in Knoxville do do any of that, and i'd reckon he probably has all that anyway.

the program is not sitting still. it's not like there's a whole staff of people sitting in an office making paper airplanes, playing paper football, waiting on CJP to come back to work so they'll have some direction and be able to do anything.

this picture you paint, "if you're not getting better, you're getting worse" is just not fact based, given the time of year it is, and really, what is truly going on.

students are on winter break, some players aren't even on campus. you can't actively recruit.

the only thing that is being missed right now is the S&C, and i'm not sure how active that would be during winter break anyway.

he's hired all but 2 positions on the staff, they signed 14 prospects for the ESD.

and the rest of the staff is actively sending scholarship offers to prospects almost daily....so there's plenty of evaluating going on.

but, again, you get to believe what you want. and if you want to believe we're getting worse by the day........that's cool.

Hell, given this, just have him show up in February.

The thing is though, he didn't do that. He did what he did, and it speaks volumes. He has to earn our trust and show if he truly has any loyalty to UT. As far as I am concerned, he's an orange clad Bammer. I just hope he is Cutcliff 2.0 and not Kiffin 2.0. It's all on him to prove it.

Does anyone hear the dawg fans bi*#hing over this petty chit? Just yesterday I read threads about how bad UGA fans were and today Vol fans(?) seem to be lower than them.
It could be a case of "being written into contract" that states he has to coach until the last game. Why did Smart do the same thing 2 seasons ago? I'm sure UT football will survive plus it's a positive look,IMO. Recruiting contact can't start until after 1/18/18 anyway and this staff is earning respect in that important area.

We are trying to get 3-4 of the top players in the country to sign with UT and Bama is our biggest challenge. Pruitt coaching there shows he's active,(getting exposure), at a time when many are dormant. He'll receive more exposure come Mon.,1/8 because UGA will bring a better passing attack than Clemson. Many feel this is the best way to beat Bama. Our new head coach being on the battlefield in the biggest game of the year between two of our bigger rivals can only bode well for UT in the near future. Don't forget about Scherrer still coaching LBer's for UGA. UT has a big need at that position and having these two coaches recruiting for that talent is a plus.

We’re not playing a game for another 9 months. I think his metrics, phiosophies, and habits can wait another 7 days. You sound childish and naive

If he wanted to be full time at UT right now he would be. Outside of money owed, the contract is irrelevant when discussing coaches

Regardless of what any of us think of CJP, his stock is rising thanks to last night. This time next week he's full time on the job. He and his D squad took care of business.

That's ok for awhile,I reckon. I do suggest mixing it up a little with DILLY,BULLY thrown in.

Never said it was dire.

Just a complete lack of prioritization.

All other P5 football programs are being managed right now. Ours is on idle. But go Bama, right?

Jesus, if Pruitt can move our recruiting class up 20 spots "on idle" then imagine what he can do when he's actually trying.

What could he do to help? Has he watched every single minute of every single player on the team from this season and broken down why they failed? Has he implemented his new culture into the football wing at UT?

Or has he been breaking down film on Clemson for Alabama? Has he been coaching up his Bama boys, making them the best Tide they can be?

Football is a 24-7-365 commitment at this level. Hell, I know high school coaches who are already breaking down film on next season. Working every day to improve their programs.

Our coach is swaddled in Crimson helping the Tide roll, and if that doesn't make you physically ill, you're not particularly committed to UT.

Pure "ChickenLittle" Mentality!!!

So you think coaches should just take a month off each year this time of year?

There's no way Pruitt had time to properly analyze what we have returning because he's analyzing film for Bama and not UT.

I'd think people could see that knowing every weakness for the Vols would be pretty important as you decide on who to offer scholarships to during recruiting season.

Are there duties that he could be focused on full time for UT or Not? Simple question.

yes.

does it mean we're "getting worse" or "standing still" that they're not?

no.

and it's still not like nothing has been done, and nothing accomplished.

nor is it like he isn't still working for UT while doing the game prep for Bama....and has been since he left Knoxville 2 weeks ago.

basically, there's nothing that i can think of right now that will negatively affect this program for the long term by CJP coaching in these two games.

and the short term issues are just that...short term....many of which can be handled by current staff members....

Stop complaining. You guys are beginning to sound like UT fans.

Disagree a great deal. Any negative, big or small, cast ripples down the pool. What if we miss out on an area of need because Pruitt hasn't had time to properly break down our returning players. He thinks we're good at a position but maybe we're not on closer analysis. Or the reverse, he doesn't think we're that good somewhere but we really are. He doesn't realize the player in that spot can actually play but was poorly coached or the scheme was wrong, so we end up recruiting someone when we could have focused on another area.

There are tons of reasons coaches work 16 hour days year round. There's an amazing amount of work to do and most complain they don't have enough time to do it.

Several coaches who stayed through their teams bowl at the coordinator level have admitted it was a mistake and that it negatively impacted recruiting.

This fanbase has largely been beaten into submission.

Tremendous lack of expectations.

He's not taking a month off. He is honoring his word and was upfront with Tennessee about doing so BEFORE he agreed to becoming our coach. He has been relentlessly recruiting and putting a staff together during the last month and we are better off for next season because of this effort. The alternative to this would have been that he would not have taken over ANY duties at Tennessee until AFTER Alabama's season was over....pick your poison!!!!!! Oh... I forgot.....we could have just stuck with Schiano and not been having this conversation!!!
