Much respect for CJP for finishing what he started.

Personally I would if he had done that to UT

However he was the hc and he's going back to a place where he's revered. Ours is a DC getting his first shot but he wants to continue to work for our biggest rival. The situations really aren't comparable

It is called Ethics. Some have it, many don't. It is easy to recognize by what people say and do. Look at our politicians and you don't find very many. Look at the posters on this board and you don't see very many. Look at football coaches and you don't see very many. I think we now have a football coach who will win an still be ethical. You don't find one very often.

Do you work in a factory?

Yep....I carry my desktop around with me as I work in a factory.

I have worked in a factory before....scratch that, I worked in production (Lucent Technologies) that's a factory right? I work in finance....I work with spreadsheets and numbers. I make a salary...no commission or bonuses. I work in an office.

This had zero to do with ethics. Quit trying to make the guy it to be some saint because he coaches football. He also recruits and that is not a place where ethics really thrive

Honest answer is I don't give a damn.

My concerns lie with UT. Not Nebraska, Bama, or any other school.

Ok I’ll dumb down the question to your level. If you were a Nebraska fan, would you be mad Frost hasn’t been in Lincoln this whole time?

That’s because you can’t see the big picture. He is a true teacher.

I see the big picture very well.

The leadership at UT has been a disaster for well over a decade with standards dropping to levels never seen. It has now spilled over into the fanbase.

I also was still available for project related questions for many months into my new position at my current place of employment. When you work somewhere, you don't just leave and not look back -

You do if they're not paying you. Good grief what you describe above is crazy and just plain ridiculous.

that is called taking ownership of your work and your reputation. If your name/reputation is attached to anything, you take pride in it. Some of you people act as if everyone works at McDonald's and just walk out in the middle of the shift. I guess it depends on how you were raised.

yeah, it was weird.

but i just don't care. gimmie as much of what Bama has been doing the last 10 years as possible.

and as the Bama game ended last night.....

i just kept looking at the GA and Bama rosters and realized that CJP has a pretty big hand in both of those rosters, and i started to feel a lot better.

Jeremy Pruitt All Time Recruits

yeah, i started feeling a whole lot better.

Damn, that list of recruits though...wow

They offered to pay me but I didn’t log any hours because it was minimal time on my part. A 10-15 minute phone call here and there. And in CJP’s case, it’s a couple of weeks that again, I’m about 99.99% sure Fulmer agreed to.

*EDIT* Also I should note my field of work is a little different in the sense that if you sealed the design (I’m a civil PE) you have liability in said design for essentially ever. So if there are issues or questions about the project, for the sake of your professional reputation you are available for questions. Hopefully though you leave a good enough project file and design report behind that any questions can be answered by digging. Most the questions I got were ‘hey where did we store such n such files on the network.’

I would be available on occasion I guess, but it certainly wouldn't be any kind of priority. First and foremost I'm dedicated to the guy signing my paycheck. Just the way it is.

This. My industry is not really comparable to coaching at all, but is comparable in the sense that design consultants move from firm to firm, or switch over to vendors and go into sales, or do what I do and move on to the utility/municipal side. Ultimately everyone ‘knows’ everyone in the industry and has a personal/professional reputation. If you care about said reputation, you don’t burn bridges - especially when you may be working for or with the people you scorned at some point down the road given all the moving around

Other than the optics of the situation, in practical terms what harm is being done to UT by Pruitt coaching at Bama til next Monday night?

I find this laughable.

It contains in it a complete ignorance concerning the amount of duties in running an organization as large as the football program.

Who are you people? My reputation says I don't work for free. My work is something to provide my family a certain lifestyle. It does not definite me in any way as a person. My way of thinking will make sense once you realize that companies don't care about you either.

They quit providing compensation and I quit providing anything of value. Evidently your pride would make you work for free. Unless you own your own business that gives you the reputation of a sucker. Stay proud

i know, right?

if you're going to start somewhere in rebuilding a program like TN, a good place to start is to start landing as many top 100/150 kids as you can.

and CJP can do that. and he's put together a good staff.

generally, if you do those two things, you will be pretty good.

the bad news in all that is Bama, GA, Auburn, and FL will all be doing the same thing. likely aTm as well.

I think the SEC is about to get more balance again, and you'll see 4-6 teams annually that could compete for division titles.

Well then to address your point, my GUESS would be that 1) Bama is paying CJP right now and 2) UT is paying a lesser buyout by allowing CJP to complete the Bama season. Again, guesses. But it would make financial sense if true

nothing. he's just going to walk in to living rooms and say "i recruited and coached the following kids, to both GA and Bama over the last 3-4 years, and both teams just played for a national title........."

I've already answered it and you are incapable of comprehending.

There is an almost endless list of duties for a first time head coach to be working on to run a P5 football program.

Who's is the S&C coach? What is his plan for Jennings and Boulware? Did he want to salvage those relationships? There are 100 other questions I am not aware of that require his attention.

I'll also turn your question around. Is Saban and Bama so inept that they can't move forward without him?

no. there's a lot CJP has to do this off season. but that was going to be the case regardless.

i get what you're saying but he has the majority of the staff put together, and fulmer is there. i don't think it's as dire as some have made it out to be; him not being in Knoxville.

Never said it was dire.

Just a complete lack of prioritization.

All other P5 football programs are being managed right now. Ours is on idle. But go Bama, right?

Ours is not on idle....why are you exaggerating? What are other programs doing that we are not, besides playing in bowl games?
