You guys built this mythos around the guy hanging on his every word, and when the narrative started to shift and the goal posts moved, so too did his “true meaning” behind the stuff he originally posted. I get it, it’s fun to believe we have some Ultra-ballin’, secret socriety, super connected, possible billionaires on here (and maybe we do), but absolutely nothing substantive from Beaver has been produced in nearly two months. Outside of the hero worship from people foaming at the mouth to scream GTFO or threaten bannings to anyone who dares question the validity of something so hard to believe in the first place.

I’ve been pro Gruden since day one. And I still hope there’s some last minute miracle that he’s the guy. But that’s what it would be - because just like last time when it ended up being Butch, all the message board gossip and “vetted” insiders are seemingly yet again being proven completely wrong by traditional news outlets and reporters. It’s fun to believe, but not at the cost of abandoning reason, and right now all reason points to Pruitt being the next head coach. And that’s a solid hire even if his name isn’t Jon Gruden.

I guess it depends on your definition of "solid."

I don't know of any recruits who are going to change their mind and commit to Tennessee because of HC Pruitt.

I also don't know if he can coach 'em up enough so that we are competitive with Georgia, Florida, Missouri or even South Carolina, Kentucky and Vandy.

He would need a lot of help from assistant coaches and who of them that are coming that can do what he can't and if they can why aren't they the HC?

But what do I know, right? I'm just a fan like the rest of y'all.

It's just that I want Gruden, still, and Pruitt pales in comparison, IMHO.

Generally, I follow the team via reddit/247/Marlon McKinney's list. Although, I've really come to appreciate this board. To the extent that once I remember to call 247 and cancel (most ridiculous cancellation policy ever), I'll never go back and come here instead.

Is he not a major booster with input on the hire? I concede that I likely agree with that conclusion. Is he not associated with people who do fit the above description? I'm not so sure.

Here's what I don't believe: I do not believe that Beaver is just some schmuck with zero connections. Its an excruciatingly detailed and long process for a few clicks. As AV said, "you just simply can't play golf at the places he's playing golf without some connections."

So, judging whether or not he is a fraud requires defining what fraud means in this context. Any definition of fraud that includes "HE LIED BECAUSE GRUDEN ISN'T OUR COACH!!!" is categorically improper.

He could be a moderately wealthy nobody (in the sense of our coaching search) who got bored and wanted to troll VolNation. Or he could be a complete nobody who happens to know the bartender at the golf course who wanted to troll VolNation. Or this could be an elaborate troll job involving multiple accounts. Are these hypotheticals really less likely than him actually being some super connected person helping to steer the UT administration and coaching search? If you think so, I think you’ve gone down the rabbit hole a bit too far.

Its not like he posts on here 50x a day or tweets nonstop. Very seldom actually, so it’s not like it would even require some great amount of effort from some bored person to wanting to rile up the fanbase. As for why he would do it? Who knows. Why do people do this all the time on pretty much every message board ever? Why do people catfish folks? That’s a discussion for a different day.
