It was a fake again.
and I owned my mistake....chit happens and It appears hell will freeze over before you own yours !

I'm out....been fun but not real fun. I'll leave PF to his decision but also knowing UT is going places we haven't been to in at least 10 yrs !

Gruden to the Hill, Ride or Die !

If he wants to end up at Bama, he better win a title here, so that's fine by me.
He is a Bammer, but people are crazy if they think Pruitt won't be all in at UT. He wants to win, if he wants another job like Bama, then he has to win big, so that's fine by me.

Another thought: He has seen Tennessee at it's best, played in Neyland when it was working and we whipped them. That means, unlike the last 3 guys, he knows what has and can happen at UT and that this isn't an expansion team and he doesn't need to build anything, but needs to build ON 125 years. May mean nothing, but at least he has been around on the other end when UT was a power.

Good, at least if you are going to bring up other coaches in here, lets keep it positive! All this negative talk about every other coach has been driving me crazy! It's like no one is good enough to take over the football program at UT. When the truth is no one knows who or what is going to happen. We could get lucky and start winning again, or we could be looking for another coach in a few years. Only time will tell.
But I'm on the Gruden Train until the wheels fall off!

Didn’t think about her but that’s another one. Plus, I don’t think Holly is all that good of a coach. Jmo... Phil needs to head over to SC and bring another VFL home.

I don't either, but anyone who took that position after Pat was doomed for failure more than likely. Pressure would be/is immense.

I'm still Gruden till someone is at the podium, even in this dim light, but I'm starting to feel like...

Interesting info from VQ

Matches what others have heard. Never got a definitive No from JG yesterday. And yesterday was the deadline. So pursuit of others obviously ramped. And they seem ready to move on with Pruitt or whoever having never gotten the response of No (which inherently means no "yes"). Hopefully JG doesn't bother showing up at any more games if he took it that far and every demand/counter was met to then not respond...and keep going about his other business.”

I am afraid so. I think a big part of the problem is that the temporary euphoria we all felt last Friday may have masked how deep the issues in the AD and booster structure are. Make no mistake it was significant and we are moving the right direction but like it or not many coaches dont want to get tied up in this mess. We don’t even know how long Coach is going to be the AD. I’m not going to give the pep talk as it is up to each of you going forward.

IMO we are in rebuild mode, not Championship mode. Hopefully I eat crow for that.

I just don't understand the wait to announce the HC or at least let the floodgates open with leaks if it is done. Maybe they are worried about backlash again.

Also on VQ, there are quite a few who feel the Pruitt deal is a smokescreen for Steele/Tee. They are adamant that deal is done.

Don't we have several recruits coming for visits this weekend? Would be really bad NOT to have a coach for them to talk to. Worse yet, if they meet the coach and have no idea who he is.

They are going to let the recruits be there to watch them announce Jon Gruden. That would have all of them commit immediately.

It appears JG simply did not respond according to those on VQ....but they believe the deadline passed and we have moved on.

So we matched every counter and he just failed to respond? He won’t coach again if he truly flirted that much and then acted that way. What a load of crap. Pruitt and an elite staff will be just fine.”

BTW, apparently on the Dan Patrick show, even Patrick said today if it was that close with Gruden then the big $ boosters do what it takes so Fulmer can close the deal. I didn’t hear so I can’t validate, maybe someone else can?

Just dont see a no response, not good business practice, a polite refusal is all it takes.

But Crickets???

Perhaps we extended the deadline for Gruden by another day? I know it's far-fetched, but maybe Pruitt's name was leaked to gauge the fans' reactions and they have decided to regroup and throw another last minute pitch to Gruden. Grasping at straws, I know.

Been keeping the faith since about 1979...'bout out'a faith.

I don't need Gruden. I don't need National Championships. I need for the people in charge, to value this program as much as I have since I was a child.

All I wanted was for them to reach a little bit, to try and put us on equal footing with the teams I think we should be competing with. I wanted the Orange Pride re-instilled into the program.....not sure a Bama DC will be able to adequately communicate our history and the Maxim's to new recruits. All of that has been extracted from the program. We put the one guy in charge that I thought would emphasize doing that, and he seems completely disinterested in doing so.

Well said, Boro - I think you speak for most of us here. :hi:

Yeah, I just don’t get the holdup. I know Peyton’s HOF events slowed it down but you’re interviewing Mel Tucker, Kevin Steele and Jeremy Pruitt. 😕 Get on with it.

I'm going down with the ship, hoping it is Gruden, although at this point I am highly doubtful that it will end up being him. The one small glimmer of hope I have left is this: It has been mentioned numerous times throughout the JG threads that Dec. 7 was the day they were shooting for an announcement. The fact that we haven't gotten a no from AV yet has me hoping we make it through the day today with no announcement for a big BOOM tomorrow.

Thing is, Gruden HAS to Know he would be treated like a Conquering hero and would be given Key to the City if he said yes!!
