For the whole "3 out of 4 coaches in playoffs were coordinators" argument: Let's take a look at the legitimacy of that statement.
Dabo Swinney: Has been with Clemson since 2003. Promoted to interim, then head coach in 2009. Championship level success in 2015. Had some good years before, but been with that program for 14 years.
Lincoln Riley: True first year coach success (anyone heard of Baker Mayfield)?
Kirby Smart: Success in second year. Spent 7 years at Alabama as DC. Not bouncing around from school to school. He is the only one out of this bunch that I would consider having real success as a first time HC.

For those of you who are not on here as much as others and are getting frustrated.... there is a reason stuff is crypted ... if you've been following along you are to believe today was the day a final decision would be made ... PV posted a gif earlier of a guy in the toilet ... Gruden was still trying to make final decision.... he hasn't posted since ... he then comes and says the deal is done by posting a gif of a man "buttoning up his suit" .... if you want CJG to personally come in here and tell you he's the next coach, it's not going to happen ... however if you have been following along since the beginning and you can at least have some kind of deductive reasoning ... it's done

Since then he has came back and posted two more gifs of calming down and that we are in good hands....
Im pushing a more realistic option that many informed journalists believe to be the case. I wanted Gruden as much as the next guy, but it likely isnt happening. I have a problem with someone playing with others emotions, especially when weve been through enough as it is. Giving false hope and setting such expectations isnt healthy for this fan base.
I think it's probably instructive to remember that the only people who think that there was ever the slightest chance of Gruden are the people in here. Stay in here all day and you probably won't realize how little everyone else is thinking about it, which is to say that they aren't, and they're very confused to learn that there's a section of Tennessee fans who are completely obsessed over it still if you bring up that fact.
There was one national report that came out right before the Schiano thing hit, and that was it. Nothing else. So when you say, "He has to at least publicly shoot it down. There's too much smoke..." and so forth, there's really not, and hasn't been since the Schiano thing, which consumed everything else for a week.
The only people on the planet who think Gruden owes us an explanation for not coming are all in this thread.

Im sure you could have convinced a top tier coach to take over this hot mess. Shame you werent named AD.
Because I actually care about the team and want a real coach. I bet you wanted to keep Butch, didn't you?
