Someone (not anyone that among our trusted posters) dropped in and said it was a no from Gruden. No idea where they heard it, but everybody ran wild with it.

Then a major troll infestation and then news that Pruitt was our new coach (again not from one of our own) and that some of the players had been told. (StoneCold dropped in and said players didn't know anything.) Then meltdowns and nastiness.

DTO dropped in and said he heard it was a no and everyone lost their minds. Honestly felt like maybe AD turned on the smoke machine and a full on rave started - but not the good kind!!

Good morning!

Regardless of how this turns out, it has been quite a ride. After the dust settles, I will probably give CPF the benefit of the doubt and support his hire. The early signing date will be a great challenge for the new staff. It will give us an indication of how recruits view the program.

Nobody is going to look for a championship out of this program for a loooong loooong time. Probably difficult to even expect them to win the East for the next 4-5 years unless we hire someone who can flip the script on recruiting.

Morning all. Butch was fired because he couldn't take us to the next level in football. My take is that UT is doing the same if we hire a coordinator. It's been said that we, the fanbase, has battered Vol syndrome. We come by this because of passed experiences of hires. My hope is that all these names being dropped is a smokescreen for Gruden's privacy, but I'm having a little battered Vol syndrome right now. Still keeping hope alive though.

Exactly.

I don't care what coordinator we bring in, they have to win recruiting battles against Saban, Smart, Dabo, Mullen, etc.

Then they have to win games against Saban, Smart, Mullen, etc.

I don't have any faith that Jeremy freaking Pruitt can beat Saban and Smart, and I doubt he can beat Mullen, and beating at least two of those is the requirement to get anywhere in the SEC East.

We're looking at another 3-5 years of irrelevance with a coordinator hire. Hopefully it won't push out another full decade.

Me too but it looks like that's what is happening.

And if we give it to an Alabama guy who is currently a coach at Alabama I bet Gen Neylqnd is rolling in his grave this morning.

Worse we had proven head coaches on the hook from which we could have some degree of confidence that we could expect results. I told my wife last night if these names hold true Tennessee football may never be relevant in our lifetime again.

And I know that Kirby has done it quickly at UGA but he walked into a loaded roster and what's happened with that type of hire is the exception to the rule. In other words rare and we should have absolutely no reason to believe it will be replicated at UT. We continue to play roulette with our head coach hires. Today is going to be a disappointing moment in our illustrious history.

Sounds as if our journey is coming to an end. As much as I hate to say, Im going to miss all you PECKERS, and PECKERETTES. For those really new to the board, y'all wont get it. Hopefully we find something out before to long, and we can get behind whomever it is that will be leading OUR team. Remember, no matter what, VOL FOR LIFE.

I was hoping for a championship level hire this time around, My time is running short to hope for any championships from UT. Been following this program since '65......will be 74 in less than a month. Some of us don't have the time to wait much longer.
