Boycott everything until we show a true commitment to winning. I will lose my mind if we hire Steele

I agree and I’m pissed too but I love this basketball team. The one thing I can be proud of as a Tennessee fan right now.

I don’t feel an interview matters much when hiring a football coach. Results speak for themselves and every head coach has results to look at.

Hiring a guy just because he interviews well seems silly to me

Correct. Interviews are real easy to knock out of the park, just like the introductory press conference. Just like politics. All you have to do is lie like hell.

Even looks like Coach Klein. This will not end well.

I know people are excited for him, but I kind of feel a Gruden hire should get the Herm Edwards treatment of WTF?

No Lane Kiffin will forever be the worst hire in our history. Messing that hire up is what got us to this point.

You’re out of your mind if you think Steele with Tee isn’t a good hire though. That would be an obvious line of succession and would provide a great deal of stability to a program that desperately needs it.

Lol @ you saying Steele would be a great hire and telling someone else they’re out of their mind.

It's an easy fix. DON'T BUY TICKETS.

I've maintained, especially since the Schianocolyps, that this was a bridge hire to the next guy. Whomever they hire would most likely only last 4 years. Guess if they're going to make someone rich it might as well be a VFL.

247 apparently changed the wording on whatever it was that made people think Pruitt was out. They said in talking to people this afternoon Pruitt is still in the game and can't be counted out despite maybe not being the perceived leader

If we don’t hire Steele then I don’t see what is wrong with the search.

Well, we did sign an MOU with someone who allegedly turned a blind eye to seeing a child being raped. That prompted a very public fan revolt that led us to quickly back out of the signed MOU, making us a national story for all the wrong reasons. We were then publicly rejected by 4 coaches (Gundy, Brohm, Doeren (wtf were we thinking on that one?), and Sumlin), our AD went rogue, we fired said AD for going rogue (among, I assume, other reasons, including his general tendency toward jackassery), we replaced him with a guy who we fired a few years back (remember that?), in large part, because of his poor track record with, guess what, hiring coaches (see "UT OCs under Fulmer not named Cutcliffe"), and now we stubbornly refuse to even consider clearly superior candidates who seem to be legitimately interested in the position because...well...no one seems to know why really.

Other than those minor snafus though, yeah, this whole thing has gone swimmingly. Kudos to all involved.

Agreed, albeit I am no expert in coaching searches...Heck, I would be a perfect AD at UT!

No I’m just capable of higher order thinking.

If we bring in Steele with Tee then it’s obvious what’s going on. Steele is here for a few years to allow tee to be in Knoxville and get the hang of things so he can become head coach.

I don’t think that’s the best way of doing it. I would just hire tee but if Fulmer wants to have him in a head-coach-in-waiting roll then I’d be ok with it.

Lol now you’re gonna go the bruin route and claim to be a top 1% thinker. Good grief.

In 10 years you will look back and realize what an idiot you were when you were in your early 20s. Then in 10 more years you will look back and realize what an idiot you were in your early 30s.
