Guys, I could put a turd in a punchbowl and would require far less in compensation than any of the folks who are making this coach hire.

I'm just putting that out there in case anyone needs a head football coach hired.

Our final three candidates are Pruitt, Tucker, and Steele, with Tee in there somewhere, probably as an OC and not HC (bye Newt!)

Really hope this source for Brice's article is right:

Pruitt: "I like his grind!"

Tucker: "Very impressive!"

Steele: "He...didn't pass out. I suppose that's commendable."

Brice’s source is definitely right. It’s more hoping Phil is listening to him.

That is not the point. The point is that we should not be hiring a coach who "might" be better than 9-36 with a better support structure. We should be hiring a coach who is a known good commodity.

Leach wouldn't have required a particular AD, but, aside from him, there are many other coaches out there who would be better than Steele. The fact that the best realistic coaches available were obviously not considered is troubling.

I won't take any more after the past decade, followed by the past weeks of this embarrassing coaching search, then shoveling another deuce of a coach onto my plate and telling me to eat up.
We are on the level of Vandy and Kentucky right now in many coaches eyes. I hate it, you hate it, we all hate it but that’s unfortunately where we are after this past decade. We can flash all the money around we want but things haven’t been attractive on the hill in a long time.

Fulmer should have been the AD from the beginning. This never would have happened. Fulmer had to come in and work with a brand that was even more tarnished and decided that he thought it was best to turn to someone that he’s comfortable with in Steele.

I hate the hire if Steele can’t bring tee home but if he can? Boom. That’s a home run for us. Steele is 60 years old. Probably on the verge of retirement. He will bring stability while Tee prepares himself to be HC. What’s wrong with that? We need that kind of stability and if that’s how it plays out I’ll be willing to support it.

If you don’t want to that’s fine. However, I recommend you look up the marshmallow experiment. This hire (if Tee is brought home). Is going to be like that. Short term wait for long term gains.

Steele as a HC would be a disaster. He couldn't take to pressure as DC at Clemson in the Orange Bowl. Players said he signaled in nonsense that they could only guess was signals from a defense he had run at another school.

There's still hope for Pruitt! Please! Even though I don't like him he is lightyears better than Steele! Pruitt or Tucker please!

Cmon. Miles is old and past his prime. Steele is only a very spry 60 and ready to relive the glory he had at Baylor!

"past his prime"? starting from most recent Les Miles went
9-3
8-5
10-3
10-3
13-1
11-2
in his last completed 6 years.

only one is on par with the level we reached in the east when it was down while he is getting those records when the West is elite. what in the bloody hell are you talking about "past his prime" when his last full season is better than we've had in 10+ years and 4 out of 6 are in double digit wins?

Seems like such a waste to have an AD revolt to hire Steele. Phil also set himself up with his others will be interested in the job now comment. I'm going to hold out hope until tomorrow when the announce Steele.
