He said he was very well there thought of by the Auburn people and would be major player if Gus left for the job. Maybe we don't trust Hubbs and I don't always but he has been very good lately with info.

I don't want Steele period, not as HC, not as DC, not with Tee Martin. We do not have Auburns DL, nor will we in the forseeable future. He has been a average to below average DC his whole career minus this year. He had Clemson in the 70's in total defense, lasted one year at LSU and the fans hated him, got replaced at Bama.

Never happen but pairing Leach with a sec dc with recruiting ties makes all the sense in the world to me.

Recruiting is why you have position coaches and the 10th assistant.

Grinch was also at Mizzou so the SEC landscape isn't entirely alien.

The most important thing with Leach is a DC who knows what he's getting himself into and who has accepted that challenge.

That’s an easy speculative comment to make that he won’t have to back up. Just a way to soften the blow when he gets trotted out there. “But he was gonna be Auburn’s replacement for Gus.” See how easy that was.

I can't imagine the boosters are pleased about this either. Going all in on Gruden has really hurt us in this search. I hope he is never mentioned again when we are looking for a head coach. And Haslam and Currie threw gasoline on the mess last week. Just hire Tucker and let's move forward can't take this crap much longer.

Did we even discuss the job to Gruden? I thought they were all in on Schiano from day 1.
