We wear them one game a season & they look really good plus the players & recruits love them.

I hope he cares about other things honestly.

IMO they look terrible on the field and remind me of Butch Jones. Except the helmets, those are pretty cool.

That they do. But then again, nothing compares to the Big Orange. I do wish they would at least break out the orange pants at least once or twice a year. They look really sharp, IMO.

Yeaaaaa buddy, all orange is something to behold.

I've got a hard time trusting someone to judge aesthetics who, two sentences later, advocates for the orange pants.

Looks like Mason, Luke, and whoever we hire will be the bottom of the barrel of the SEC.

I've been tracking the new coaching hires and ranking them according to who is winning the 2017 coaching search season. This is my take right now and I have no idea where we end up. I don't think it's impossible we end up at the top but there are only 3 or 4 names that would give us a shot at that. (Green = P5; Yellow = G5).

90% chance we are looking at a new coach in 3 years. Assuming we can afford it.

And the job is going to be an even worse sell. Welcome to the graveyard folks...4-5 wins is the new ceiling.😠

All hail Phil! The saviour of the Tennessee program...🤢😡🤕

After we get the Steele trot...How bad do you guys think this year's class ends up ranking?

I bet it is in the 30s-40s if any more guys can still find another good place to land this late.

So apparently Fulmer wants to make a hire tomorrow. Who y'all betting on?

Smart money is on Steele.

I'm gonna go against all common sense and say Venables, because I'm a dreamer.

One positive out of these names is that they are all better football coaches than Butch.

After the hire is made and the staff is complete I’m going to take a long break from following football. Might check in on NSD to see how we did. This search has me needing some CFB R&R.

It is crazy..just pure stupidity. There is at least one really good coach that wants this job..and Phil is going to hire the absolute crappiest candidate. It is just beyond comprehension for me. 🤤 How can anybody be that stupid? A Steele hire means whoever is really in charge now is just as bad as the Haslams. 🤢 They are traitors....IF it's Steele.

Steele will not be better than Butch. He will be Dooley level or worse.

Miles, but I think a factor is how much these buyouts will cost. They're still worried about having to pay Schiano and Currie. I could see them settling on $5 mil (1 year) for Schiano and $2 mil (2 years) for Currie, even though I think they could get out of both. I think they try to save some face in the coaching world because Schiano and Currie signed an MOU and then we pulled the offer and Currie was just doing what he was told. Plus whatever Butch and staff will get. Jim needs to hire them all in Cleveland, they couldn't do any worse.

I kept reading about our Schiano stuff. I also kept seeing the narrative from national writers that Oregon interviewed him before Taggart got the job. Found this interesting

To be fair, it has been nearly two decades since Steele was a HC. It would be reasonable to expect him to have learned a thing or two since then.

Recruiting will suck on a historically bad level...mark it down. This guy has no business ever being mentioned in the same breath with the UT HC job. It is an absolute insult to Tennessee, the only thing more insulting is to actually hire him.

I will NOT rationalize the hire of Kevin Steele as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. It is garbage.

Kinda wish we could let Hoke coach next year then try again after things calm down and there are more options.

Hoke is as bad a choice as Steele, maybe even worse because he would be a known lame duck. It will wreck this class AND next seasons class even worse than it is already.

I didn’t see this posted, but at one point tonight Hubbs said this job isn’t very easy and last week didn’t help any. This was in reference to the lack of big time names.

Need to be working to get rid of the Bama series. Makes us uncompetitive in the East relative to UGA, Florida and USCe. Saban isn’t leaving anytime soon, and Bama will have the pick of the litter when he does. Replace Bama with Arkansas and this job gets better in a hurry.

Fanbase isn’t ready for it right now and Fulmer isn’t either. But if we are still down 5 or so years from now maybe people will start coming around.

Oregon fans were not happy at all on twitter when he was interviewed

I just don't think there's a really good option at this point. Unless someone comes in and completely blows away expectations do you really see any of these names being thrown out winning championships here?

Somehow I’ve talked myself into believing Pruitt is our best option. Seems like a hyper-competitive mercenary.

I honestly doubt Venables is ready to leave and become a HC, reading the tea leaves. Steele would be a completely dud. The Les/Tee combo makes too much sense and would be too comforting and reasonable to the fanbase, so it’s clearly off the table based on how this search has gone. Kiffin would win too much and have us in the national conversation too quickly. Leach would get the fanbase too excited and would be too entertaining for us to even consider. Rest of the names are boring.

Some quotes from the Oregon message board during their 2016 coaching search.

Mullen, geeze, scraping bottom of barrel there. He got beat by South Alabama (the college my wife attends), I mean, can we just say no?

ND fans think Brian Kelly is coming here. God I hope they are wrong.

Just told a friend of mine that if they Hire Brian i would become a beaver fan..
And it gets better if they hire Lame kitten...wait for it cant believe im going to type this " A husk fan" couldnt make
myselt type the whole thing....

A buddy told me bout the Kitten rumor and I told him I would jump ship too, only I would jump conferences too.....SEC all the way if they hire that jackass.

I thought there was a rule about posting a link to Clowndon'tknow stories, that you had to let readers know it in the post.

I was thinking in a thread that's meant to be all about absurdity, a Clownzano article just fits like a glove, doesn't it?

Out of curiosity, are those football scoop staff people legit?

Scratch Scott Frost off the list. Says he isn't a candidate. Also, footballscoop says Taggart isn't either.

Looks like it's down to Fleck, Schiano and maybe Harsin.

So say it is Fleck or Schiano.

If it's really down to those two, then it had better be Fleck.

Add Les Miles to the mix hah.

Miles is also a canadate at Houston also they say...

BTW-Some here are mentioning Lane Kiffin. Kiffin has no shot at this job, Oregon wants to go a different direction but they aren't going down that road.

Gary Patterson, per Clownzano.

Have we hit 50 names yet?

Isn't that your obligation as the thread starter to keep a public google-doc spread sheet of all the names?

James Franklin!

Everyone's a candidate.

At this point, it just feels like Oregon is making everyone rich by being the perfect leverage for massive extensions.

And another name, this time Gundy.

I just need them to hire anyone at this point, for the sake of my work productivity...
I cant see Gundy leaving Okie State.

Doesn't he do this every year? I don't want a coach that throws his name in the hat every time a job opens up.

guys at work here are going crazy. They believe you just go down to your local 7-11 and
find a coach it cant be that hard... well Oregon is proving them wrong. I have this gut feeling
that it will be someone that has not been mentioned yet...not sure why.. Just to many twists and
turns....

Who is your nightmare choice for the new HC.

My 3: Brady Hoke, Brian Kelly, Lane Kiffen
1.Lane Kiffen
2.Brian Harsin
3. the one guy from mississippi
4. Schiano
Definitely Kiffin.

My dream scenario would be Oregon hires Chip Kelly, San Francisco 49ers hire Chris Petersen and Washington hires Lane Kiffin.

That would just set everything right in my world again.
1. Lane Kiffen
2. Jim McElwain
3. Greg Schiano
Lane kiffen
Art Briles
Sandusky
I'm not understanding the Schiano hate? He may not be splashy, but the guy won at a school that never won a bowl game before he showed up.
1) Kiffin
2) Art Briles
3) Jerry Sandusky
4) Frost
5) Brady Leaf
6) Sarkissan.
I really really don't want Schiano

Conversation we had at work today. "Who is your next Football team to follow if they hire Kiffen?" I'm going with Portland State, though I hope it doesn't come to that. He, Briles, and the See No Evil guy while he was at Penn State are the line I won't cross.
