Why does Peyton not like Tee?

Had nothing to do with Tee...Peyton was on the Haslam team. Haslam didn't want Tee, so Peyton didn't either.

Don't know if there's dislike or not, but perhaps Manning, like a lot of folks, doesn't believe Tee is ready for a jump like this? Gotta say I'm all for a guy getting a shot, but I'm really ready for someone more proven, more sure. Taking my fandom out of things, I just don't think UT can or should take a chance right now. We need a guy who we are sure about. I'd still take an 8 mil check and meet with Peterson, Patterson and yes, Gundy. After that, I'd make visits to Fuente, Frost and Brohm. After that? Hell, I don't know.

Tee accomplished something Peyton could never do and he will never forgive him for it. Tee is about to eclipse Manning in Vol lore when he leads us to a national championship soon. The Mannings put on a good front but behind closed doors they are some nasty sons of *****es.

You're good at making things up

I took class with some of the football players in the 90's and the only time I saw them was on test day.

Yea, I took History of Rock and Roll. Football, basketball, women's basketball players... it was a great class. Writing intensive course, too. I made an A. As you said, no one showed up except the day of the test. This was the late 80s though. Major's time.

Yeah, but Ga Southern isn't Tennessee. See they hire football coaches based on merit and qualifications.

Facts are Tee played like crap the first half of the season in 98 but came around in the Ga game. The team won in spite of Tee until the Ga game. He also struggled in the Ark game but we know how that ended. In 1999, Tee played outstanding, frankly as good as any Tennessee about since but team was buried in jealousy and future plans.

Excuse me...

If Tee didn't take the Syracuse game (first game of the year) over, we'd would have never won that NC.

It was obvious Peyton was blocking Tee from even getting an interview from us. I had a guy tell me several years ago that Peyton did not like Tee and then I hear Bassilio say that they've not liked each other since college. So that begs the question:

1) Is Peyton jealous?
2) Did Tee bang his wife?
3) Or does Peyton have no issue with Tee but just didn't think he was not qualified?

I would go with number 1. I've been saying all along that Peyton doesn't want Tee here because it'll hurt his stock with the fanbase. He's already taken a hit by backing Schiano and now it seems he's been on the side of the Haslams during all this mess. So this, coupled with the fact that Tee did everything in one year that Peyton couldn't do in four, minus a conference title (which again took Peyton four years to Tee's one year) hurts his ego. Thus, with all these things, imagine if Tee comes in and has huge success; he'll begin to eclipse Peyton in terms of fanfare and UT lore. Hence why Peyton doesn't want Tee here.

Just because Peyton may not think tee is not ready to lead what should be an sec power football team doesn't necessarily allude to Peyton not liking tee. Btw tee has never even head coached a small college. Not been an oc long. Not even accomplished that job in the sec either. Can't imagine why Peyton thinks he may not be ready lol

This is it. Just doesn't bode well for a HC.

I would guess it hampers his first HC gig being s major P5 job for sure. I do believe he winds up at one eventually and would be cool as hell if it’s alma mater. But for a head coach I do think that would force him to bulk up his resume more first.

Nothing of the sort is obvious. Completely unsubstantiated.

The only way Peyton would care is if Peyton wanted the HC slot himself, and he clearly does not.

How is it "obvious".

Good God...quit inventing problems, we have enough real ones.

I think he needs more play calling experience myself, but I cannot predict the future.

I would rather him a decent job; prove himself and then come to UT rather than to come to the UT and fail. Like Majors went to ISU, then Pitt and then UT, which he had several tough seasons before he got going. Those days are gone.

Tee coming too soon would seriously be bad for him.

As far as a favored son/OC, I think Cooter would be a great choice. He is ready.

Trust me. Peyton doesn't think this much about Tee Martin.

Tee loves himself some FatBurger in LA and won’t let his players eat Papa John’s...USC gives them free

So in 1998......what's your account of what happened?

The Tennessee Vols showed up and played a good enough game as a team to win.

But if you want to make a silly assertion that one person won the game, then any other name than Al Wilson seems silly. But whatever.

Who the hell even knows what Peyton really did or didn't do with Schiano? He's not on the BOT or in the AD, so any advice or consent he gave was informal.

Furthermore how does this story about him "approving" schiano (which would not have meant d--- one way or the other) jibe with reports that Haslem and Currie played it really close to the vest? How involveed was Peyton?

Also I doubt Peyton wastes time worrying about what Tee is doing. Peyton is a very busy guy with speaking engagements, commercials, interviews, and so forth. Tee is probably the last thing on his mind.
