This came from some UGA friends talking about how the media has been bashing Tennessee this past week and just like UT fans they say who gives a d@mn what they think. They were talking about how they never seen a fan base do what was did and never thought something like that could ever happen. Thats all they wanted to talk about and they know the fans are sick and tired of losing and dont blame the fans doing what they did. Just thought I would share this.

Alternate explanation:
The Gruden negotiations were real for all concerned with the exception of John Currie. John Currie ran a con at the direction of Haslam, to make everyone else think Gruden was happening, while Currie negotiated in secrecy with Schiano. In fact, he did his job so well that his con was not discovered until early last Sunday morning. If not for that early morning leak, we would have Haslam, Currie, and Greg Schiano today.
Jimmy had enough kahunas to call a state senator and tell her to stfu. I mean, that's some serious self-importance. The guy thought he had enough power to threaten a state senator over a coaching search.
What is amazing to me is Haslam and Currie thinking they could pull of the Schiano deal. Even if they did (and thank God that didn't happen) it was going to p*** off all of the other boosters who thought Gruden was a lock before he sent Currie out on the rouge route for Schiano. What were they thinking ? Haslam had to believe he had so much control that he could dictate and whether anyone else liked it or not they would just have to eat the **** sandwich. I just can't rationalize that in my mind how they thought they could get away with that.
That's the history of Haslam's involvement in our program. Bringing in their own person at the last minute when it's too late to fight.
This is the truth, you are not going to get sport reporters to go there. But the truth is getting out there, but I have no doubt the coaching world knows the basic truth. Jason Whitlock and others have put it out there, it's not hid anymore. And the rock said it all, even ESPN acknowledged in a round about way that there may be truth to the message.
First off, as a long time lurker and late in the game participant here, it's been a blast, and I'm proud of what Vol Nation helped accomplish over the last week. It's understandably hard to go back to hurry up and wait after the frenzy we've been in, and we all want to know what's happening now and if the white whale is still in play.
I'm quite confident that Gruden is still an option, and that every effort will be made, and that if he's not our next coach, it'll be because he changed his mind and said no. This is simply because, if he isn't our next coach, then Haslam will have still won. I'm not going to go back and cite the numerous quotes on here that make this case, but here's what we "know." Gruden was on board. He had called potential assistants. Money was settled on. Meetings were had, and I think it's more likely than not an agreement was signed, with an announcement schedule laid out. Then Currie went off script and the domino effect of the last week unfolded.
We won yesterday, but does anyone think that the powers that be on our side will just abandon all of the efforts that have been made and not finish the deal? Without Gruden stalking the sidelines next fall, Haslam will have still achieved some form of victory.
AV said a long time ago that he would not break the official good news, but that he would tell us if and when it became a lost cause. Silence is golden my friends. Silence from AV and silence from Gruden means the ball is still rolling.
Bask in the glory of a battle hard won, in the knowledge that our great University is once again on the right track, and have some patience. Enjoy some downtime, enjoy your weekend, and know that what we all want is coming...

I agree with you. If we hadn't gotten wind of anything, we would have a Coach Schiano today. I fully believe that.
